One thing I found was that as I started going from sit to stand, I'd start pushing my feet down, and start getting wobbly then back off. Eventually I found that if I just kept pushing through that point, I would get stable again (but occasionally cork out). So, I would go up alone, push my feet down all the way and just hold it as long as I could...if I felt wobbly I'd pop back into a sit and then try again. Still working on a completely stable and controllable full out stand. After that it's onto head down...yippeee....

Try to do some MonkeyClaw jumps when you're in XKeys, too. That'll help.

Hey Sun- Couple of things...
My friends slowed their HD and came to me. I sped up my sit only as much as my stability allowed. But I also wouldnt jump with people I didnt know. Speed is called for on both sides, or all sides. There are enough adjustments in any skydive to go around.

And now... Having said all that... I did feel pressured to go faster, fly better. I pushed myself so hard to keep up with the big boyz. I figured if I couldnt stay, I couldnt play. And its basically true. But I did my try stuff on solos.

Sit to Stand, the best way to lose it is to stab a stand.

With you, Missy Miss Traveling Thang-B|

When jumping with someone the first time be highly aware. Be sure you say what your skills are and what they are not. Be familiar with their ability. Safety first. You do not want to be airborne and then find out that the 2 of you are not flying compatable. Nothing personal on either part.

Knowing someone and knowing how they fly are 2 different things. I have done 2 jumps with 2 different persons, well known to me, who overstated their ability. Back out of there fast. Keep your eyes on them, do not go above them, & get away. One guy went way below me, one guy corked above me and rocketed back down. Again, Eyes on your partner, back out, no panic, control, track off & abort the skydive safely.

Be able to get out and away if shyt goes wrong. Dont count on anyone not hurting you.

SO- In addition to everyother damn thing you gotta learn, add that one.

Thanks for the info.....if anything - I normally understate my abilities just because I want my jumper partner(s) to be very aware that anything can happen....duh. I also have a very good eye in the air and keep my eye on all things (or try to) hence why I've probably done so go......"look where you are going kinda thing"......if I lose someone on exit I search until I find them and normally before I think about it I am there. Goos stuff - ALWAYS...SAFETY FIRST!

See ya this weekend perhaps....D

I found that leaning back slightly helped me to stay stable while standing. And when you feel like you're gonna cork, bring your legs back up into a sit position to slow you down. That worked for me.

Good luck!;)

newbie question, but wouldn't leaning back slightly make you start to slide around the sky, specifically moving you foward? I thought in a stand or headdown you needed to be pretty damn straight to not start racing all around the sky? Thanks.

That worked for me and many others I know because people (not all, but many) have a tendancy to lean more foreward(backslide) when they stand than 'straight'. People also do this w/o even realizing it.

Max gave me that tip and it did me wonders. Different people have different quirks. I also find that when I freefly, I'm usually always using some degree of positive foreward motion.

Your best bet would be to get a video of you to see what you need.

Happy to report that I got to play with my sit/stand lots in Aggieland. I told everyone what I was working on and everyone was willing to add some fun to the jump...Pilot Mike was the best because we went out and I mimicked (or tried to) whatever he did.

360 sit, cartwheel, back flip, front flip (which I kinda stalled) but then we punched a stand once or twice. I am starting to get the knack of just trying stuff and as long as I am with only one person and they know my deal - I am cool with it. Things are going good thanks to the help of everyone.

BIG HUGS TO ALL!!!!
