Cyco 0 #1 August 10, 2003 I am jumping a Coe-D 170 which has THE LARGEST slider I have ever seen complete with pockets around the perimeter, all done to try and slow this canopies break neck opening speed. However I am trying to find out what the factory or optimum specs are for this canopy, as if you go to large on the slider size it can in fact start to speed up the opening sequence
riggerrob 643 #2 August 11, 2003 George Galloway (Precision Aerodynamics) explained that as sliders get bigger, canopies start to open earlier, but they take more seconds to fully inflate. Somewhere in there is a happy medium, best explained by the original manufacturer, or a rigger who has a few hundred jumps on that model.
