lintilla327 0 #1 July 29, 2003 Hi, As a lot of you seem to recommend the Firefly suits, I had decided to give them a try. Their website is underconstruction, but they have some order details. I tried emailing them, but havent got a reply a few days later, does anyone know if they are still in business? Or are they just snowed under with work! I see they do a two piece freefly camera suit. Im trying to figure out what that means...seems to be freefly pants and a jacket with wings. But surely ( I ask myself) the wings must attach to the legs? Has anyone tried one of these? I was tempted to go for a 2 piece freefly suit, and get a jacket of the freefly camera suit, and then be able to switch jackets between jumps. Thanks for any comments! .--so long and thanks for all the fish....
andy2 0 #2 July 29, 2003 hey good question! I've wondered this for awhile now when I saw the two peice suits. I'm curious if you hook them together, I know I've seen people with two peice suits at the DZ I've never studied them though... Not to hijack your thread but: can you retrofit a pair of regular freefly pants to use with a camera wing jacket? (of course this is a moot point if theyre individual of eachother and not hooked together with clips or something...) --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... PhreeZone 20 #3 July 29, 2003 I've got a complete suit from them. A 3 piece one to be exact, Pants, Freefly top, Camera top. The Camera top attaches to the legstrap of your rig by a long piece of webbing, a ring and an RSL clip. Its really cool and it works quite well. If you don't go the RSL clip route they will sew the plastic buckles onto the pants but then that looks dorky when you are just kickin in the pants at the DZ. They have some good pictures of it they will email you if you call them and ask about the option. You only need it attached to the rig/pants if you order the medium or large wing. The small wing is completely on the jacket. The top is long enough that you put it on then put the pants on and the pants cover the jacket bottom. The jacket (Firefly at least) Has 3 inch wide spandex cuffs on the bottom of the jackets that keep the jacket pulled down in freefall. The pants are enough that it completly covers the spandex and an inch or two of the jacket. I use my camera jacket and pants to do RW and Tandem videos, the Pants are nice to do tandems in and the pants and Freefly top are great to freefly/tandem in. Ask a few people at Raeford on one of the raft jumps that went to hell about sit flying in the camera wings. Word of advice... get the codura knees/butt if you think you might do tandems or slide in your landings.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
bkdice 0 #4 July 29, 2003 They recently moved. I ordered pants the first week of May. They told me 6 weeks. Took 13 weeks and several phone calls. They do make good stuff and I have heard good things, but know they are running behind now. Best to call Sherry over there. She is not always on top of her emails. Also - careful how you wash them, some stain removers will cause the colors to bleed.
PhreeZone 20 #5 July 29, 2003 >Also - careful how you wash them, some stain removers will cause the colors to bleed. All Suplex bleeds. Its not just material from FireFly. My Merlin Suit bled pretty bad too.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
lintilla327 0 #6 July 29, 2003 PhreeZone, When you use your camera jacket, is it for belly camera work or do you do sit camera in front of the tandems? .--so long and thanks for all the fish....
PhreeZone 20 #7 July 29, 2003 I use it for both. The wing is sewn to the bottom of the arm instead of to the front edge like some suits so I have to flip to my back then to a layed out sit to keep it inflated but it works just fine for me. I like in the hot summer months just jumping in the jacket and a pair of shorts. Makes the day a lot more comfy.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #9 July 30, 2003 Have you tried this # 310-808-9136 (cell). I just called, and I got her voice mail.
bdazel 0 #10 July 30, 2003 I ordered a Firefly suit more than 13 weeks ago. I was told 6-8 weeks. I never thought I wouldn't have it by the WFFC. I keep getting the runaround from Sherry. I was told it would be overnighted last Friday, but still no suit. Very frustrating. Firefly suits may be good quality suits, but if you want something soon, you would do better to get something else.
sunshine 2 #11 July 30, 2003 Firefly did get a bit behind because of their move, not to mention they make such awesome suits that lots of people are ordering them. I think mine was 2-3 weeks late getting to me, but hey, that happens. Anyhoo the new business number is 515-280-6691. Give her a call. IMO her suits are so well made that they are worth waiting for. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! VanillaSkyGirl 6 #12 July 30, 2003 I agree with Sunshine. Firefly is the best. Sherry only got behind because she moved her whole company and home base. She is overloaded right now. I think that her quality is impeccable, though. Sherry looked at my sketch (I design for a living) and measurements and made me a 2-piece suit that I absolutely love. Thanks for posting the new #, Sunny. I only gave Sherry's prior cell # because she had told me that it was still a # that she would be answering. I wasn't sure which # to post and assumed that people knew her newer # from the website. Delighted to see she's doing so well, it must be a reflection of her work. In the meantime Im ordering a Matter Jacket and Pants. I'll order a camera jacket soon (from Sherry) .--so long and thanks for all the fish....
