Be careful where 'serious' training can lead you

Recommended Posts

Shock news: Team Phats and Small bin the UK nationals.....

So we came up with a routine, did a handful of practice jumps and what we realised was that neither of us was enjoying it :(. For the first time in a long time I was coming down from jumps pissed off because I had bodged stuff up. That's not why I got in to freeflying and it's exactly why I knocked RW on the head. So instead we did some traditional 'dicking about' jumps, followed out some TM friends, came down laughing and smiling and generally had a blast.

I know this doesn't apply to everyone but be careful where 'serious' training can lead you and never be afraid to say: 'ahh f*** it'.

Just the ramblings of a bored man on a Monday morning.

That's training. It does get hard sometimes and it gets very frustrating when you're not doing something right. You've just got to balance things out... if one routine isn't going well that day, practice speed rounds. If everyone's having a bad day, go do some fun jumps, organize, or take a day off. Also, don't be afraid to scrap a move that just isn't working... some of our best moves have come from others that we couldn't get right.

But... at the end of competition, there's nothing better than saying "We just had the 7 best jumps of our season, and it was in competition!" Seriously.
Oh, hello again!

i couldn't agree more with you! it's stressful when you try SO hard to have an awesome jump & somehow you personally F it up.... it's frustrating because you want to perform well so bad!

i'm glad you saw the problem & were able to have fun.....

Yo, Trent is right. You got to balance stuff out.
You can progress so much when you train and it makes those fun jumps that much more fun cuz you get way more versitile.
I found getting flustered when training helps me to work that much more on relaxation and breathing which will then in turn help in competition.
