WrongWay 0 #2 April 29, 2005 I always want an organizer to give me a challenge. None of this "Okay, we're gonna exit in a flower, turn it into a round, open accordian, round, open accordian, round, open accordian, round, open accordian, round, open accordian.........." stuff. I like it when they change things up and throw something unusual in the mix, whether it's a weird exit or a strange point. As long as it's original and challenging, I'm happy. AggieDave 6 #4 April 29, 2005 I expect organizers to try to setup people with appropiate skill levels for what they need. Too often I've seen people with less experience get hosed because the LO wasn't willing to help them find someone to jump with that would be appropiate. I'm not saying that LOs should blow off a day of challenging dives at a boogie and only jump with low timers, just that it would be nice to help them along as well. Eitherway, you kick ass as a LO, you're approachable and fun to jump with, even if you do wear burnt orange. See you at EF for the CASA.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

cheneyneel 0 #7 April 29, 2005 man they have to be out going!!! they have to be a people person.. they need to be able to keep people on the ground in the air and loving what they are doing.. I hate bad ass freeflyers that cannot hold 2 sentences together infront of more than one person.. then they are load organizers.. I like organizers to be full of energy so that they keep everyone jumping all day.. because at the end of the day it doesnt matter how good the jumps go it is that the mid level guys and girls get to jump alot and feel that they are doing the coolest shit around with a person who makes them feel cool.... skill on a mass level is getting too good for a good organizer just to be a good flyer and thats it!!!.. If I am at a boogie and the organizer sucks as far as personality I will just do my thing with who I can organize myself with..and not pay attention to the organizer because I will feel like I am hearding turtles to get them to jump.. the more experienced people can organize themselves, if you cant then they are not that experienced so they fall into the mid level make them jump focus group.. hippydiver 0 #8 April 29, 2005 You rock as an organizer Robert. Always keep the dives challenging, interesting, and new, you always have the best exit ideas, and breakdown the jumps afterwards in a positive way. I'd say just make sure you keep the beginners and new people interested and learning and you got it down brotha.---------- gravity rat formula 109 Team Gonzo and Team Jamaican Me Crazy no bullshit, let's just fly, be safe, and have fun. hookitt 1 #9 April 29, 2005 At a Boogie, it's tough. You have to get a core group of people together that can do more than the flower, round, accordion, and then go do a bunch of loads together. It's tough to recognize the talent pool at a boogie. By talent I mean levels of skill. At a boogie, leaving out the mediocre flyers can't happen either so there needs to be more than one organizer. Some times the best dive is a simple campfire where the goal is to be close and on level. ... Don’t take WrongWay on those types of dives. DZO's just want the props turning so your time can't always be with the group that YOU want to jump with. You have to go do a 2 way with someone that needs some coaching. What I would want. Organized dive plans that are challenging. Multi level formations, and points and of course outside video. What a new flyer would want is the same thing, however in reality, a 2 or 3 way with a set of skills to work on. Always have a back up. In other words, you organize this great dive and one person just can't deal and now it gets scary... create a BFO... big fucking round. It may not be fun but it gets everyone back as a group and ready for break off. At home, the big picture is more important. Eventually you want everyone to do some kick ass 10 ways. So you now become a coach to bring someone up to a skill where taking a dock doesn't mean grabbing a foot and backsliding away with it. Not only do you get to organize your group but you get to organize other groups for instance. Put 2 people together and give them a dive with a planned set of skills to work on. Sounds easy don’t it!!! RW organizing is so much simpler. Creating a dive that is challenging but can actually be done successfully without knowing the abilities is really tough. So be ready for frustration. Always be positive. I’ve met you so I’m pretty sure the positive part isn’t an issue. If it's a big ass boogie 10 way, expect somewhat of a zoo unless that group is willing to jump several times together. Another thought is put a few dives together before hand. Announce to meet at the creeper pad. If 20 people show up, you need 3 or more leaders. I'm getting a bit hungry so I'll try and finish that stream of consciousness later. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Good organizing, coaching and practice should lead us to that soon. If not 10 maybe some sweet 4 ways
IMGR2 0 #12 May 10, 2005 So any freeflyers here going to Boogie on the Brazos? If you are, contact me and we can start putting some dives together depending on the skill levels.
AggieDave 6 #13 May 10, 2005 I'll be there, but my FF skill basically consists of chunking a drogue...I've done maybe a dozen FF jumps this year. skreamer 1 #19 May 11, 2005 Probably the best organized dives I ever did were those by Max Cohn. He gets everyone involved, even if your part of the dive plan is simple it is always challenging. Combined to make some pretty cool stuff. I know he posts here sometimes, hopefully we get some feedback from the dude himself.
