bmason81 0 #1 April 30, 2005 I was wondering how long it took to get back in the game after a layoff? I have the chance to jump year round and did 225 jumps in ten months before I was deployed to the desert and now and almost ready to come home, and am a little apprehensive about my skill after six months off. I guess the jumpers in cold weather clilmates could give me the best advise.pull low, fly fast, PLF!
partyboy 0 #2 April 30, 2005 Dude, The same happened to me, and still is. I am in Iraq right now and am supposed to be home in August or something,..? I have been told about basic saftey just as to remeber your wing loading and hitting HD hardcore. I guess you'll figure out where you are in due time. Have a good one. Up High!! Peej 0 #3 May 9, 2005 Don't worry about it bro, just get out there and freefly! It really is like riding a bike. I did 160 odd jumps over July and August last year plus a couple hours of tunnel time, then got home and bust my leg on a botched swoop. I spent six months out of the sport and i thought that my skill set would drop off badly but it hasn't been too bad. All i did on my return was a re-currency jump with an instructor friend of mine, very much like an AFF Level 5. Unlinked flat exit, up and down levels and some 360's and a pull in place. Take it easy under canopy, just concentrate on landing with your wing level and you also might want to practice you EP's in a hanging harness. Otherwise have fun and get home safe! Bobster 0 #6 May 25, 2005 I made about 30 jumps and then got out of the sport for eight years. They told me it would take 2-3 recurrency jumps. After about 1.5 seconds out the door it all came back to me and I started turning points. They cut me loose after that one jump. I'll never forget what the guy sitting next to me in the Otter said."Welcome home brother"!_________________________________________ Boboso Rodriguez

Rottenmilk 0 #11 June 12, 2005 I feel for ya! I'm about to go overseas to study abroad for the next year and half to complete my master's degree. Thus, it'll be a while till my next jump. Sux. Plus, I'm super broke, even with student loans, so I'm going to be selling ALL of my gear for extra cash. Ugh!!!!
