SilverFox 0 #1 August 20, 2003 As a newbie, I need an altimeter that is easy to read (50 yr. old eyes aren't what they were). I've heard about the Digitude, but no-one at my DZ has one. Any opinions welcome. Blue SkiesSilverFox As we get older we get wiser, but we still fall the same
johnny1488 1 #2 August 20, 2003 The ground works great! j/k I have seen the digitude and it seems pretty easy to see. Maybe see if you can get and alti w/o a detailed face? You know so the needle stands out more? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Clownburner 0 #4 August 20, 2003 Digitudes work great, if you're good at digital displays. Most people prefer either analog or digital because they're 'used to' one or the other and so they can read it faster. Most people are analog babies, I'm a Digital Kid myself. Another option (although they're pricey and still working out the bugs) is the Neptune; digital but with a larger display than the digitude. (and you get the pro-track like data recording features too). If you prefer analog, look for one with a less cluttered face; they'll read easier. Although I'm not a big fan of analog, the Saphire seems to have a cleaner and larger face than the Altimaster3, although the Altimaster 2 is a good choice as well; check your local gear store and see what you think.7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth

We'll see how the rest of it comes together when I get mine back with v1.8 code in it in a couple of days. For analogs, the Altimaster 2 is hard to beat. It's larger and would be better suited for mounting on a chest strap, but it has a large easy to read face. Also, the FT-50 is very nice as well.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
