Peej 0 #2 June 30, 2005 Ok, if your profile is correct you're going to get a bunch of replies from people telling you that you have no business trying to freefly. I'm inclined to agree, even though i started learning with pretty much the same number of jumps you did. At your level i'd highly suggest getting some experience in RW first, now that i'm starting to learn to film tandems and stuff i regret not doing that when i started out. RW is a valuable tool. Of course you're going to try to sit anyway so here's my advice. Go out in shorts and a baggy jersey to start. Just make sure you tuck it in and that it doesn't fly up and cover your handles in freefall. I firmly believe in students learning to fly their bodies first without the aid of a jumpsuit. It'll stand you in good stead later. The worst thing you can do now is go and throw on a suit with major drag in the legs, you'll never get stable. Most of all, be safe out there. Restrict yourself to solos or jumps with a coach. Good luck and have fun! Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
dharma1976 0 #3 June 30, 2005 Yeah with the I wish I had done more RW bofore I started freeflying...although i can get there on my belly, I jsut dont have the practice of turnign points or taking different grips but if your going to do it, you are going to do it. I started in a borrowed suit taht wasnt too draggy...then I got some freefly pants and a long sleeve, now I fly either carhartts and a longs sleeve, or a merlin suit (which I love btw) I like the suit for the control surfaces that it gives, but yeah learn to fly your body first... Peej 0 #7 July 6, 2005 No worries dude, like i said i'd highly recommend doing some RW, now i'm not talking 100's and 100's, even 30 to 50 jumps will teach you some skills. Learn how to exit and surf the hill, learn how to track like a mofo and any other skills you can glean from a coach. Then hit the freefly side of things with a vengeance! Good luck Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
HydroGuy 0 #8 July 6, 2005 QuoteWhat are the best clothes to freefly in? I've tried in a couple of different jumpsuits but haven't quite found my niche. Advice??? I have been learning to sit in shorts, a longsleeve tshirt or freefly jacket, and flat bottomed shoes -my Nike cross trainers have a little air heel or something - and one free fly coach reccommended I not wear them while I am figuring out my footwork. Good luck...the first time you hit it is one of those "moments".Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I don't have a clue what to do next now that I got my A so I'm just trying to do what everyone else at my DZ is doing Try doing what drives you or what you want to do instead of what is cool at your dz. Try it all but please be safe. rhys 0 #10 July 8, 2005 i suggest getting a freefly siut that is fitting but not skin tight. definately not baggy. you will be able to do all sorts of skydiving in it. a coach will send you in the right direction. and don't worry about the cost of a coach because the jumps that a coach will save you by 'not' learning the long hard way(with no coach). willsave you heapps of time and money. you just have to find a good coach that you can relate to. good luck. have fun"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
