dalemeyer 0 #1 July 2, 2008 Howzit going folks... i would like to find out how to go about slowing down while in a sit? Im a relatively large lad (6'4" and about 270pounds with gear). I pretty stable in a sit but obviously struggle to slow down a bit... my avg fall rate is between 175 and 200mph all depending on what i try to slow down with. Basically i was taught to try and fly the legs (thus keeping my hands free for docks) and use them to control fall rate and stability. Recently i have read that the best way to slow down is to use the arms and push down into the relative wind, which obviously works, but then i am stuck with basically flying my arms and struggle to take any docks as as soon as i move my arms i would start to turn. My legs are positioned pretty wide apart already. If there is another thread on this... please point me in the right direction. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks tons daleTake it easy... and if you get it easy, take it TWICE!
NWPoul 1 #2 July 2, 2008 Hi Bro! You have it right:) you should have your hands free for dock's & other stuff:) and use your legs and BACK for speed control. Wide legs is good, but not enough, just keeping your legs wide apart actually doesn't lead to increasing your surface to relative wind and slowing you down, to do so - try to squeese your knees a little bit while keeping your legs wide And... go to the wind tunnel, it's really helps a lot;)Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly? dalemeyer 0 #3 July 3, 2008 Cool, thanks. I will definately be giving that i go on the next jumps i do... Unfortunately the nearest wind tunnel to me is the Malaysia tunnel... and apparently they reckon its not very freefly friendlyI will keep on working on it though Take it easy... and if you get it easy, take it TWICE!
