howardwhite 6 #1 September 20, 2002 I'm not a CRW dawg (made a few) but a friend is. Who can comment on the judging at the Nationals? A team was busted, I'm told, for a "dual grip" (leg and hand), won unanimous support from the jury, and was nonetheless rejected again by the judges. faulknerwn 38 #2 September 20, 2002 I definitely heard interesting things about that protest. It definitely seemed a surprising result. W

faulknerwn 38 #4 September 20, 2002 QuoteForgive my ignorance, but what is a legal grip in CReW? Depends on the formation. A plane grip has to have the canopy above the head of the person below. The event in question was debating whether or not a hand and leg was a legal grip or whether it had to be just a leg grip. The team had both a hand and a leg in the lines/on the canopy and the judges ruled it illegal though there's a debate about that.
howardwhite 6 #5 September 21, 2002 As I understand it, there is nothing in the CRW rules about a "hand grip." Apparently the judges included that in their "interpretation." HW
crwmike 0 #6 September 21, 2002 Well, kind of like judges 'make laws' all time, the judges here made up a rule. It seems to me they are saying, we are penalizing you for breaking a rule that didn't exist when you did it. I don't know their rationale, but I would like to hear it.
