airann 1 #1 October 17, 2003 I ripped this off from the thrillseekersclub. QuoteDate: Thu Oct 16, 2003 4:33 pm Subject: Skydiving Record in Alabama Hi everyone. I am a Georgia skydiver who does the discipline called CReW (Canopy Relative Work). This is my first posting for the club. I proudly submit these pictures and story for your enjoyment from an Alabama State Record for CReW. Story: Alabama CRW record claimed at Skydive Alabama A group of skydivers at Skydive Alabama located in Cullman, Alabama set a goal for themselves to claim the Alabama Record for CRW. The old state record for a CRW stack in Alabama was eight. Mark Bolton initiated the idea and with the record attempt in mind, he organized several training seminars and practice jumps leading up to the record attempt. On Sunday, October 5th, these seasoned and novice CRW jumpers, along with Jeff Cornelius with Lightning canopies from PD, gathered for the attempt. A large group of on-lookers from the ground were cheering as the group formed a nine stack which breaks the previous record of eight. The participants in and leading up to the event were: Mark Bolton, Jeff Cornelius, Jonathan Maynard, Patrick Weaver, Patrick Weaver Jr., Miles Hillis, Jim Keith, Harold Mitchell, Nina Tharp, Billy Vance, Frank Fowler, Chris Warnock, Steve Davies and Steve Crawford. http://www.funjump.com/crew/crew1s.jpg http://www.funjump.com/crew/crew2s.jpg http://www.funjump.com/crew/crew3s.jpg Hope you enjoy. By the way, I am the second canopy from the top. Nina ~AirAnn~
boinky 0 #2 October 17, 2003 QuoteI ripped this off from the thrillseekersclub. I guess this means that I technically ripped it off from the original writer? No offense was meant to the author or the photographer. Being a CRWpup, I was just proud of being in my very first Record. Yes, I know....BEER!!! NinaNina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (RIP Buzz) Yep, you're a postwhore-billyvance
airann 1 #3 October 17, 2003 Yeah BEER. No matter what the source of info - congratulations to ALL. Especially congradulations to the girl CReW puppies named Boinky. That had to have been great!! ~AirAnn~
boinky 0 #4 October 17, 2003 Thanks for your kind words. Yes, being a part of that was an awesome experience! Of course, all of the people who participated over the entire weekend were awesome too! My being in that record wouldn't have been possible without the help of everyone else. CRW isn't CRW if there is only one of you. If you ever want to be a part of a group that would give you the shirt off of their back, if you needed it, you should become a CRWdog. It has to be the most supportive group of people I have ever had the luck to associate with. A special kudos to all of the jumpers and staff at Skydive Alabama. They were so supportive and friendly to all of us. If I didn't already have a DZ that I was very happy with, I would drive the 3 hours or so that it takes to get to this one. bodypilot90 0 #5 October 18, 2003 seems like our little CRWpup is doing real good. You go girl!
crawford 0 #6 October 20, 2003 For those of you that care, my name was listed as one of the participants in the state record, when in fact, I was merely the camera guy!!! Hmmm, you know, If I didn't say anything, I could have received my "Toadsucker" status!!! Damn, I am such a dork. Just kidding. Thanks for the listing though, but I can't take credit for being in the stack, I was JUST THE CAMERA DUDE!!!! Still had fun though getting pelted with ice with no goggles on!!! Ok, I am a real bad dork!!! Cheers out to the "Real Participants"... "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!" boinky 0 #7 October 20, 2003 Of course we care about you. WE LOVE YOU BUGMAN!!!Although I am taking it upon myself to speak for the group, without you, the camera guy, the record wouldn't have been an official state record. We couldn't have done it without you. Good try on still trying to become a TOADSUCKER. You definitely have perserverance and creativity, I'll give you that! But not that many people on the stack were TOADSUCKERS. In just the 9-stack, 75% would have meant that at least 7 of us would have to have been one AT THAT TIME! If we added you to that number, the number of TOADSUCKERS would have had to increase too! You just need to become a full time CRWdog and travel to the meets and finally become a TOADSUCKER. You KNOW you want to. QuoteOk, I am a real bad dork!!! Now, I would never stoop to name calling, but I did have to question the intelligence level of going up in the sleet (since we were forewarned) without any eye gear. I just won't give you a break at all, huh? NinaNina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? crawford 0 #8 October 20, 2003 Well, thanks so much for "Speaking for the rest of the group!!! " that means a lot to me.. *SOB!!! As for the "Forewarning", I was absent that hour! Sorry. My mind was elsewhere! I beg for your forgiveness and am forever in your debt until tomorrow! Peace, Out!!! boinky 0 #9 October 20, 2003 Getting a little touchy are we? I was trying to be kind, loving and appreciative. Guess it was lost in the interpretation? You, of all people, should know that your "Mind being elsewhere" can be dangerous. You don't need my forgiveness or my approval. I just wish for you to be safe. NinaNina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (RIP Buzz) Yep, you're a postwhore-billyvance
crawford 0 #10 October 21, 2003 Wow, double mis-interpretation!!! Sorry, I didn't mean anything either. Could it be possible that we (*You and I) are way to sensitive? Ha Ha. I am just trying to limit the "Sexual Innuendo's"! Hope I am doing a good job. And Yes, I am trying my best to be safe. Thanks! boinky 0 #11 October 21, 2003 QuoteI am just trying to limit the "Sexual Innuendo's"! Hope I am doing a good job. Why would you want to do that? I'm sure we are ruining everyone else's fun. Why do you think they came up with the "Suck a TOAD" idea on how to become a TOADSUCKER? Of course, I've been told that to use that as a qualification, you have to provide pictures and video to substantiate your claim.
