KCJumper 0 #1 September 4, 2003 Hey everyone. I have a question for you to ponder. I am looking to buy a used container and just want to make sure i'm buying something that is going to fit me. The rig is a Javelin with a harness size of C17. I'm 5'10" about 150lbs. Anyone with knowledge of this would be greatly helpful. Thanks. Squeak 17 #4 September 5, 2003 I have a Jav J1 with a C15 lift web, I measure 18" and the 15 is just a tad small (but not a real issue) I'm 5'9" tall so a C17 for a 5'10" would be very close to the mark i would think. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! steve1 5 #5 September 5, 2003 I ordered a c-18. I'm around 5'8" and 170. It's almost too big for me. I tighten the leg straps as tight as they'll go and I have to tighten the chest strap really snug, because I also have narrow shoulders. It works okay, but I should have looked at a sizing chart first. Now I have to live with it......Steve1
skybytch 273 #6 September 5, 2003 QuoteNow I have to live with it...... That's why I never specify a harness size or a container size when I'm filling out a container order form. I'd rather let the experts figure out what the sizes should be; that way if they are wrong and things don't fit they'll take care of it - without charging the customer. Buying new stock or used it can be harder to figure out what harness size you need. It's always best if you can try on a few different sizes before you buy. A general "rule of thumb" that I use when selling gear to someone over the phone or internet - take your height in inches, subtract your inseam in inches, then subtract 20. The answer should be close to the MLW that will fit you. Example - I'm 5'8" (68") with a 33" inseam - 68 - 33 = 35 - 20 = 15 - so I'd wear close to a 15" MLW (which, oddly enough, I do). Note that this "rule" is not perfect and won't work for every body shape, but if you are fairly "average" it will give you a good point to start from. steve1 5 #8 September 5, 2003 I bought it from a guy on E-bay. Actually I got a super deal on it, I love the colors and everything about it, except it's a little big. It could fit better, but it's not all that bad, so I think I'll hang on to it........Steve1
