Opinions on buying 2nd hand cypresses

Hi
what are some important facts to ask about when buying a second hand cypress ?
- I know you should ask when the battery's where checked ?
- When it was manufactured ( they have a 12 year life cycle - correct ?)

What else should I ask ?

date of manufacture (inc month) Cypres has finite life span of 12 years 3 months.
Months to next battery change
Months to next service
1 pin/2 pin. (free to convert to 1 pin during a service).

The best deals about are for ones with 4 years left that have had their service. Try for £200 but £300 is about worth it. Remember, airtec gives cash back for old cypres units.

I just bought 2 off e-bay. One with 4 years left for £100 (needing service) and one with a year left for £50 for my mate (with cash back essentially free for a year!)

Always get the serial number. Personally, I like to get a picture of the unit so I can read the serial number myself.

Next, check the serial number against the list of stolen/unairworthy CYPRES which you can find HERE

Next, use the Used CYPRES Value Calculator from the factory website HERE You will need to ask the seller all of the information to fill in the blocks. A new battery costs about $75 and the service at SSK costs about $185 including shipping both ways.

Don't forget to factor shipping/insurance into your purchase price.

I have bought two used CYPRES on eBay this way. Most all of them needed a battery and service.

Also make sure it's not a student, or tandem version. Expert Cypres's will be by far the most common for sale, but just one more question to ask.
