Laszloimage 0 #1 March 12, 2012 Hi everyone, Despite the crappy weather we still had a chance to make a few jumps at Sebastian during the camp held by Clean Air. Here's the link to my photos: http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/index.htm Bryan Scott also took a bunch of shots as well, hopefully he will post them soon too. -Laszlo-
CRW_Shepard 0 #2 March 13, 2012 Thanks Laszlo for getting a shot of me on the dual plane load. I was looking for you as well and thought I'd see you buzzing the formation from my position. I've posted a couple of things, a video at http://youtu.be/EEYvp2GW9yo and some photo's at http://crwphoto.smugmug.com/CRW/2012-Sebastian-Spring-Fling/ I'll look forward to getting together with you all at the next camp. Laszloimage 0 #3 March 14, 2012 Thank you for sharing the links Bryan! Great shots and stuff! It was great to meet you and talk to you. You definitely know what you're doing, and I much appreciate all the info you gave me about camera equipment and other knowledge of yours. Hopefully Parachutist/USPA will publish the image as you filming a large CReW formation. -Laszlo-
CRW_Shepard 0 #4 March 16, 2012 That is a really nice image and not because I'm in it. I wish you all the luck on its selection. Maybe we can get you hooked on CF. As far as high-end video cameras for skydiving there isn't a lot to choose from especially with the current economy. I didn’t mention this but I wanted a SCARLET-X and had the monies set aside for it. I’d been waiting for its release for several years. You know when you start weighing all the parameters i.e. camera body weight, lens's, image stabilization, accessories, frame rate vs resolution (the faster the frame rate the lower the resolution) and postproduction support a purchase like that needs a specific application to justify its purchase. And if that application is rare than rental works even better when the need arises. I'll keep you posted on the NX70 firmware update slated March 22. All I can say is that camera did exactly what I wanted out of the box. The fact I use it for other production projects besides skydiving now has me anticipating the firmware update but for skydiving alone I don't need it. It was a pleasure working with you. I feel guilty I didn't have more time to spend with you. Skies, Bryan
Laszloimage 0 #5 March 16, 2012 Bryan, Thank you for all the valuable info from the production world again! I'm sure there will be a few more CReW camps to jump together... At the mean time here's a promising camera from JVC, I hope Sony will come out with something similar soon: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839193-REG/JVC_GY_HMQ10U_GY_HMQ10_4K_Compact_Handheld.html
CRW_Shepard 0 #6 March 18, 2012 That was a truly amazing and unexpected 4K camera announcement at CES. They started shipping this month. The f/2.8 lens makes me want to see what reviews are to come. It s a 1/2 CMOS camera priced at around 5K, they had another 4K camera that wasn't officially announced CES with interchangeable lenses and a 2/3inch chip. It should list for 10K. I do believe 4K cameras are the future and the camcorder battles are about to begin. Cant wait until NAB to see who has another 4K camcorder.
Laszloimage 0 #7 March 20, 2012 I wish if NAB was here in New York again... I don't think I gonna fly to Vegas in April
CRW_Shepard 0 #8 March 22, 2012 I'm not going this year but some of the guys from my station will. I think Canon disappointed some of us with the c300. We all thought it was going to be a true 4K camera. The spec's are still pretty impressive and I really like the form factor. http://cinemaeos.usa.canon.com/products.php?type=Camera&model=C300 As much as I like going I don't mind reading about the products later. Laszloimage 0 #10 April 4, 2012 Thanks for the info Brian! I know about the FS700, it looks incredible. The FS100 is defenitely "jumpable" easily. The Sony PMW100 is very promising too. I haven't heard about the 4K Canon though... ...we might have to move this discussion the camera forum before the moderators kick our ass
