ernokaikkonen 0 #2 June 20, 2002 >...stupid, ignorant question, but how many jumps do you need to jump a >wingsuit???There are no stupid qustions, only stupid peopleThese figures apply in Finland:-250 jumps if you a briefed by a qualified wingsuit-instructor-if you have a D-license (500 jumps in Finland), you don't _have_to_ get any instruction, but it would be the smart thing to do...BirdMan Inc website seems to recommed 500 jumps minimum AND getting instruction.Erno
verticalflyer 11 #3 June 20, 2002 How long is a piece of string, different countries have different policies and were there is no policy it is dependant on individual jumpers experience, currency and overall ability. With the number of recent post from people looking at buying Skyflyers as a first wingsuit the number of jumps and currency is likely to be very important. The traditional guideline from Birdman was 500 on your own after reading the manual and fewer if taken up by a BMi however if Jari is about he may clarify this. But to be honest it all depends on ability, it like asking how many jumps to sit or head or 4way or CRW.CheersFraser
Jussi 0 #4 June 21, 2002 We wingsuit instructors in Finland tend to think that no matter how many jumps have (250/500/5000etc), that you have at least 30 jumps during the last couple of months. In Birdman jumps, you have to be current..
thrillseek 0 #5 June 21, 2002 hmm. maybe i'll see what the deal is @ WFFC. The time in freefall is what excites me most about skydiving, and it seems like this is the way to enjoy it fully.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 June 21, 2002 I don't have any problem training a very-current 200 jump wonder, but would have to skydive with that person without the suit to see whether or not he is a flailer first. Anyone who is current with 500 jumps or more can pretty much handle it with just a ground class. ChuckBM-IAre you a Monkey or a Flunky? HERE
