gus 1 #1 March 12, 2003 I've never flocked with more than 3 other people and that was from a Skyvan (ie easy exits). If you've got a group of 10 people and you're jumping from a Caravan or a Let what's the best way to keep everyone close on exit? SPY 0 #2 March 12, 2003 Depending of the step outside the plane and grips around the door, it may be possible for 2, 3 or 4 persons to be outside, and the others inside the plane dive, just like a normal formation exit. The first persons to exit may not go full speed at the begining to allow the last to join the group. Have fun! S-P ===========================
VectorBoy 0 #3 March 13, 2003 What we do is the first to go out kinda open your wings slowly maybe across 2 or 3 full seconds and run paralel with the jump run a few until everybody has exited then procede 90 away from that heading. If the first guys out head straight away from jump run the last out may never catch up to flock with them. Its a lot like leading a tracking jump, dirty at first then clean it up and take off. cpoxon 0 #4 March 13, 2003 Well Fordy will normally be front floating and leading on his back because he's scared and wants to keep his eyes on the tail and everyone else! You can easily get 4-5 people floating on these aircraft with close divers. I've found that with groups you don't want to be too close. The transition to flying on the exit and the restrictiveness of the suit is not conducive to being stable if there is a coming together. The range on the suits is so great, expecially as the flying gets dirtier as the groups get larger, that a little bit of separation can be easily made up, so I think a little bit of space is a good thing. Actually, that's a good point. Because of the Skyflyer's faster forward speed, these suits should probably go out after the Classic and GTis.
gus 1 #5 March 17, 2003 Tried some floating exits from the Caravan this weekend with Craig. I kept inflating my wings unevenly so it took 3 attempts before I got a stable exit but the actual climb-out (holding the inside rail) wasn't as hard as I thought it might be. Nice jumps dude!
