mujie96 0 #1 September 19, 2003 The young lady I sold my reserve to pointed out that she had been told the packing data card stays with the reserve when it changes hands-is that correct? I thought repacks were noted on the label on the reserve, plus there's info on the card pertaining to the rig-like the pin check and the Cypres info. Thanks!!! WOOHOO selling my first rig, BEER! usskydiver 0 #2 September 19, 2003 The packing data card should go with the reserve and not the container as PD is the only mfr. who tracks use and repack data on the canopy. The reserve pin check is also annotated on the reserve handle IAW CW 03-01. Tim FAA Master Rigger

Hooknswoop 19 #4 September 19, 2003 Quotethe packing data card stays with the reserve when it changes hands-is that correct? This is an issue. If the card has information about the compliance of a SB for the container and for the reserve and they are split up when sold, which component does the card go with? The short-term solution is for a rigger to make a card for the other component detailing any SB/AD information or other revenant data, repairs, alterations, etc. The long-term solution is for each component, AAD, Reserve, and Harness/Container, to have it's own card. Re-packs, repairs (new BOC, etc.) would be on the Harness/Container card, while AAD maintenance and other information would go onto the AAD's card and repairs, AD/SB, inspection, repairs, etc. information applicable to the reserve would go onto the reserve's card. This makes perfect sense to me, and maybe add a sticker program for anything smaller. When you checked my reserve pin, you logged that on the reserve pack card, but it makes more sense to identify the individual component, since so much swapping goes on. riggersam 1 #6 September 19, 2003 I agree. That makes sense. I think it is interesting to note that while aircraft have separate log books for the engine and airframe that parachutes do not have separate log books for different components. Also, you don't have to keep your engine and airframe log books in the airplane. I think you're actually encouraged not to as long as they are "reasonably available". Only the airworthiness certificate needs to be kept in the aircraft. Just pointing out areas where the FAA differs. Sorry to digress.

Derek *** Derek, This is an excellent idea. I have tried it a couple of times in the last year or so. Both my rigs are that way. The problem I have found, skydivers are flakes and loose at least one of the cards. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

We used to do that (and there are foreign countries that do this) and it made sense to all of us...but we had too many people whining about having multiple cards, losing cards, whatever... it ended up just being too much of a headache to keep doing.
