LilJon 0 #1 May 31, 2003 Last weekend another birdman and I pulled a sweet rodeo. We had a fall rate of around 95 to 100, and we even got a semi-dock between the birdmen. Then we got to talking. Would a passenger transfer be possible? I get a little squirly when the passenger bails, and I think the it would be pretty hard to jump from one birdman to another? Anyone tried this or have any thoughts? Also, what about the passenger pitching off the back of the birdman? You'd think that it could work, but then again, maybe not. _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031
LouDiamond 1 #2 May 31, 2003 You get mad lift when the passenger bails off. As for transfering passengers from one BM to another BM I'd say it depends a lot on the BM and the passengers abilities. Anything is possible, hell I watched B2 damn near go into a stand in a BM suit the other day on her 4th flight. I'm sure she'll have it down by the time I see her again. Only way to find out is to try it "It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
ManBird 0 #3 May 31, 2003 I'd imagine that it'd be VERY difficult, but doable. An example: 1. Passenger is on BirdMan A, and BirdMan B is on the left. 2. BirdMan A and BirdMan B dock, or at least stay very relative. 3. Passenger releases the left risers on BirdMan A and grabs the right risers of BirdMan B with the left hand. 4. Passenger quickly moves left leg from left side of BirdMan A to left of BirdMan B's right leg. 5. Passenger, in one motion, pushes off of BirdMan A, moves right hand to BirdMan B's right riser and right leg to outside of BirdMan B's right leg, while moving left leg to outside of BirdMan B's left leg, and immediately releases BirdMan B's right riser with left hand and grabs BirdMan Bs left riser with the left hand. 6. BirdMan A goes corks like bastard. Transfer complete. All of the above should happen in the span of about 0.5 seconds. It would require BirdMan B to be an excellent flyer, BirdMan A to be rock solid, and the passenger to be quick, and respectful of the BirdMen's suits and gear."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

Casch 0 #5 May 31, 2003 You know what I want to see? A rodeo where the person on top is standing. That would be the COOLEST picture...ok...back to my dark little corner

That would be the COOLEST picture...ok...back to my dark little corner No problemo, my rider(B2) and I have already discussed this and we both think it can be done much like a person on a skyboard stands. The only issue is staying head up while the person stands and not diving too drastically. It can be done I'm sure and if we pull it off we'll be sure to get a picture of it"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
SkymonkeyONE 4 #8 May 31, 2003 There is a picture of just what you are talking about running around here on the forums I think. Unless I am mistaken, it's Wendy Smith on Doug's back. Chuck
LouDiamond 1 #9 May 31, 2003 I seem to remember something like that too but was it a regular skydive or on a Birdman?"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
base570 1 #10 May 31, 2003 It can most definetly be done, it will just take a little practice! Also, if you want to do it right you need to put some reigns on the Birdman and the rider needs a riding crop you know... to keep the Birdmans body position correct How about this for a good pic.... Have 2 BM next to each other with a person standing on BOTH of them(one foot on each) with of course the reigns in one hand and the crop in the other. All of them riding off into the sunset. Bowie 0 #12 May 31, 2003 standing on the wingsuit We did it last year on oester aera Norway it took 2 jumps to do it right i have video of it all but a lausy e-net connection. i shall see if i can send a pic..Bo Wienberg vimeo.com/bowienberg
LilJon 0 #13 May 31, 2003 Our issue with the transfer was the BM with the passenger is flying hard to actually go, while the BM without a passenger is closed up. When the passenger moves, the original BM would pop up, while the second BM would sink out. I may work, but it would take some awsome flying and timing _________________________________________ You look like a well fed robin. -monkey1031

I haven't seen the video but the bird man is a perris regular and the rider was Miko from the brazilian freefly crash test dummies. He rodeoed, he stood up and after a long flight dove off the front of the wingsuiter. Although I haven't seen it both of them had video of it.
