bigG 0 #1 July 20, 2003 Just wondering if one already exists?.... If not..would be a good idea to have one..with details like where they (BMIs) are based at, contact info, prices, etc..etc.... what do you all think?
LouDiamond 1 #2 July 20, 2003 I do believe one is being worked on and will be put up on the Birdman web site when it's ready. Your right, it's a good idea"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
SkymonkeyONE 4 #3 July 21, 2003 In the meantime, it would be wise for a person looking for "real" instruction to just post his location here and have people answer up. Chuck, BM-I Raeford, NC

TB99 0 #6 July 21, 2003 Hey bigG, there are a few of us in Deland that are BMIs ... I don't know if any are in Sebastian, but I could try and make a trip down there one day ... PM me and we'll see if we can set something up Trailer 11/12 was the best. Thanks for the memories ... you guys rocked!
NeedToJump 0 #7 July 21, 2003 I am at the Ranch (Gardiner, NY) and would love to try out a wingsuit with a BMI, any up in this area or any who plan on coming up here? Chuck, are you going to be up here for Pond Swoop 2003? SkymonkeyONE 4 #9 July 22, 2003 DeLand is home to BirdMan International. Jari, Kim, Arlo, Ray Dutch, Vladi Pesa all come to mind. Just call BirdMan and ask for a reference. Chuck
PhreeZone 20 #10 July 22, 2003 Do you know if Jari will be looking for more BMI's at WFFC? I'm loving this stuff (15 flights so far and craving more) and would love to get my BMI rating while out there.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
SkymonkeyONE 4 #11 July 22, 2003 You will have to ask him. I am not sure he intends to run a "real" BM-I course there. Call and ask. Chuck
ManBird 0 #12 July 22, 2003 15 flights and you want a BM-I rating? Sheesh. Do I have to go to Florida to get mine? Should I feel guilty about giving instruction? I don't have the rating, but I have over 230 flights."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
PhreeZone 20 #13 July 22, 2003 I'm planning on another 25-30 at WFFC at least. At the end of WFFC that will be about 50 or 60 in a month. All I want to do is really jump with some more people. Unfortunatly I'm the only BM at my DZ and most people won't try it until they can jump with a BMI. Therefore to play... flyinfishman 0 #17 July 24, 2003 Hello all, I was wondering if there are any BMI's out there in Washington state or Oregon? I know Action Air in Davis CA, is a dealer and offers the course, but I'm hoping to find someone closer to home (Kapowsin DZ) for formal instruction. This forum has been a great place for information, thanks in advance for any replies! Jim Seattle, WA
ManBird 0 #18 July 24, 2003 I'm technically not a BM-I, but I have over 230 wingsuit flights and can help just as much as an official BM-I can. I've taken a good number of people on their first flights, and only one has chopped so far. ;) If you come to Skydive Oregon, we have a policy in place that for anyone's first 25 flights, they must have a docile canopy (non-elliptical and does not respond to harness input) and an AAD. I'm out there every weekend. Not being an official BM-I, I don't charge. I just started doing video, as well, though my video skills need improvement, so don't expect too much. If you're 5'6" to 5'10" (maybe 5'11"), you may borrow my suit with your rig. If you are 6'0" to 6'2", there is another suit with a rig that you may rent for $10 per jump (must be worked out with the owners of the suit)."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
flyinfishman 0 #19 July 24, 2003 Thanks! I will keep you in mind once I get the suit in. I'm 6'3 180 so I may need to wait until I get a suit of my own before taking the first flight. Canopy is pretty docile- a Falcon 195 I'm looking at getting a GTi and upgrading my PC and bridle. Wish I could come down there for the boogie this weekend, it should be fun. ( need to save my money for the suit! ) thanks, JP
ManBird 0 #20 July 24, 2003 You *MIGHT* be able to fit in the bigger one we have here. Or you could just wait on the suit. Sucks that you can't make it down. I need to get my ass up there some time soon. Busy, busy, busy."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
effinjump 0 #21 July 25, 2003 If any experienced Bird-Man jumpers in the western USA are interested in earning the "Bird-Man Instructor" rating, B-M Chief Instructor Rob Tonnesen can provide the course, at Perris or Elsinore. Other DZ's possible. E-mail: effinjump@direcway.com It's a full day consisting of classroom and one-on-one jumps.
ManBird 0 #22 July 25, 2003 Good to know. I try to find myself at Elsinore when I can. I was going to down there this weekend actually, but then Skydive Oregon had to go and host the Pro Swoop Tour and the Northwest JumpFest. norcaljumper 0 #23 July 26, 2003 I know Action Air in Davis CA, is a dealer and offers the course. ........................................................................... Action Air does sell the suits, but they have no BMI Instructors there to jump with, nor will they take the time to jump with you because they don't even have anyone there anymore that jumps a Birdman suit as I found out. They weren't very much help at all. I would email the Birman website to find someone..... Rob
