AAppleyard 0 #1 August 12, 2003 Where can I find more information about Felix Baumgartner's wingsuit and similar. including pictures? Can suits like this be made with a motor added to allow level flying? In these suits, how are the legs kept straight level backwards to maintain streamlining, instead of trailing downwards at the hip joints? Do they use hip calipers, or what? I see that some members have small pictures (sometimes called "avatars") below their names. How can I set up such an avatar for myself?
gus 1 #2 August 12, 2003 How to set up an avatar is in the faq. Felix has his own website, I'm sure there are masses of pictures on there. There's a thread here somewhere about a powered Skyray, do a search. AFAIK the legs are held level by muscle power and the direction of the relative wind. kevin922 0 #3 August 12, 2003 wow felix's website is pretty snazzy.. wonder who made that for him.. not so sure how smart it is to go into detail about how you fake ID's and bypass security at a building in order to make a base jump...
ManBird 0 #4 August 12, 2003 QuoteWhere can I find more information about Felix Baumgartner's wingsuit and similar. including pictures? That's not a wingsuit. It's a carbon fibre that is based on the Skyray (http://www.skyray.de). felix's particular wing is a super-sized version that allows a better glide ratio for those lacking in skill."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
AAppleyard 0 #5 August 13, 2003 I have just looked at http://www.felixbaumgartner.com/ and all I get is a fancy graphic. If I click that, I get an empto page. I suspect that acess is via some fancy Java-ery which does not run properly on my computer.
arachnoid 0 #6 August 13, 2003 I'm pretty sure the site is in flash, you're not missing a great deal unless you want to learn about the "502 generation" being born
