Hatching a new Ladybird

Recommended Posts

Yesterday my kind local BMI, known here as cpoxon took me for my first BM jump - I absolutely loved itB|:D

We jumped from the Skyvan over for the Langar Boogie2 and the pilot increased the run-in speed after everyone else had left so cpoxon had some fun with the plane and didn't just have to try and stay slow enough to keep up with me in a Classic.

I will definitely have to do more of these and may spend the money I was saving up for a new (smaller) canopy on a BM suit instead and stick with the canopy I have, who needs to down-size anyway!

PS: the Ladybird thing came up while we were waiting to emplane, was I a 'bird-bird', a 'chick-bird', a 'bird-woman', a 'bird-chick' etc and I liked the Ladybird best (despite not really being a lady:)) and I am already thinking of which rig would look best with a Ladybird design and would they put little black spots on the wings of the suit I end up buying??

Exactly, get a suit instead! The Langar flock is really starting to grow, largely down to Craig and his fleet of demo suits. I saw him with at least 3 first timers this weekend, good work fella.

That Skyvan really is a lot of fun, we got out at 130 knots and I swear we got above the plane. I keep meaning to post the vid.

Until Gus pulls his finger out, this is my effort.

I can't say I believe I got above the plane since Tony the pilot starts descending as soon as we get out, but I think I at least got on a level with where it was when I got out. The "kick" is apparent in the video and appears to be an acceleration whereas the descending aircraft is gradual. Andy and Gus have some much more obvious video so get it posted boys! I have to say that usually my Skyvan exits are crap, but the higher speed actually makes it easier. It was a lot more natural and found myself instintively riding it. Tash, it was a pleasure but I'm sorry I spent some of your coaching time playing with the aircraft! Between the tandems and the coaching, it's a shame I only discovered the joy of high speed tailgate exits on what was pratically the last Skyvan load for me of the boogie before it left. I'm looking forward to the Herc Boogie next year!
