spectreflyer 0 #1 September 23, 2003 Does anyone have experience with a Laser 7 reserve? Who makes/made it? Are they reliable and trustworthy? I'm looking at a rig that has one it it. That's why I ask.
skycop 0 #2 September 23, 2003 Mine saved me once! Don't know alot of the technical details but, every rigger I've talked to says it's a good reserve. They aren't made anymore or the company changed names or something. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
riggerrob 643 #3 September 23, 2003 Laser canopies were built by two companies: APS and FTS, beginning about 1985. They fell out of production a few years ago. They are TSOed under C23C. They were sold as both main and reserve. I have repacked a few and the workmanship was good. My only critique is that they do not have "V" tapes on the ribs - leading up from the suspension line attachment points. The Laser 7-cell was about 220 square feet and the Laser 9-cell was about 290 square feet. The Laser 9-cell competed directly with the Manta as a student canopy. Overall decent reserves, if you can pick up a second-hand one cheap. Just don't plan on loading it more than 1:1.
