crawford 0 #1 October 2, 2003 Just have a simple question, may be stupid, may not, but... As far as deployment body position, I had a real bad problem with barrel rolling when I would attempt to straightened my body with a slight arch. BUT, when I would bend my knees slightly and pull them downward, I am able to stay stable. Now, if there is an appearent "Disadvantage" to deploying this way please tell me. But if it is a case of "You have to go with what works!" then I will continue to do what I am doing! So far so good, but you never know when the perverbial "Luck" will run out! So, with all of that nonsense said, I look forward to hearing everyones perspective! "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!" ManBird 0 #2 October 2, 2003 That works just fine. Just try not to "flare", or become overly head high on deployment, as this will present a "fatter" burble to your pilot chute, potentially resulting in a hestitation or PC in tow."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
VectorBoy 0 #3 October 3, 2003 Deploying knees bent forward is the prefered method on the suits that have more forward speed and bigger burbles. It provides a little bit of air brake to kill your forward drive and increased descent rate to keep your deploying PC and bag farther off your back. Do not bend your knees with your legs up above you like an RW position! This will put your feet exactly where your PC and bag will be. Horseshoe + winguit is something I don't want to ever deal with, at the worst and anything touching your deploying main has a tremendous chance of spinning up your main at the very least. Keep your feet on level with your butt, like you are doing squats.
crawford 0 #4 October 3, 2003 Thanks ManBird and Glen, that is very useful info and much needed. Just was kinda concerned about the very thing that Glen described. Doesn't sound like a very pleasant situation to be in. Thanks guys. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
