TallGuy 0 #1 October 3, 2003 Dear God you should see the size of the wings! I hope they didn't run out of tabs they use for the cutaway cord. It took me all day to run it through them all. Can't wait to see how it flies.
TallGuy 0 #3 October 3, 2003 I had it delivered at work and don't have a camera. I'll see if I can get a pic tonight. Tried to talk Kim into trying it on for size and taking a photo before they sent it out to me but for some reason she didn't think it would fit right. ManBird 0 #4 October 3, 2003 Nice. How tall are you, exactly? The size of the tail on you big guys makes you bastards scream across the sky. What suit were you flying before? If you haven't flown a Skyflyer or S3 yet, you'll find that the forward speed is insane and the suit is a lot twitchier. You and the suit might take turns flying at first, but you can usually keep it under your control within two or three flights. Your fall rate will probably be the same as whatever you're jumping now, but it will improve as you figure the suit out. Have fun and be safe!"¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
TallGuy 0 #5 October 3, 2003 6'9" I actually trained on the S3 as my first suit while in Rantoul. Didn't see much of a point to downgrading. I know what you mean about taking turns flying. I had a hell of a time once I started trying to get more lift out of it. For starters I'll be taking it real easy.
ManBird 0 #6 October 3, 2003 QuoteI had a hell of a time once I started trying to get more lift out of it. For starters I'll be taking it real easy.Totally. Getting it dialed in to where you can stay maxed for the entire flight actually takes awhile. As you get more comfy with the suit, try maxing it out for maybe five to ten seconds at a time. Keep incrementing the time (maybe even within the flight). It's not just the increase in skill that will get you there, but endurance, as well. These suits demand some muscles that no one really uses for anything else. Just be patient. You obviously don't underestimate the suit, so I'm sure you'll safely work your way to kick ass flying. Congratulations on the purchase. We need to see pics. Stand next to something that will give us a point of reference, like a car door or something, so that we may be in awe of the superior surface area of your wings."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
LouDiamond 1 #7 October 4, 2003 Tall Guy aka Tall Bird scalds the dog in the sky. He totally rocked in a suit that was too small for him in Rantoul. He won't have any problem in a properly fitting suit and he's already got SF3 time under his belt. All I can say is if you've never seen him in the sky in a suit then you need to because it's unbelievable to see such a large human screaming across the sky like he does. Dude, you totaly have to take pics of that suit becasue I know it's the biggest suit they've ever built. If I can convince Wilt Chamberlen to jump a suit then you might be beat. until then, you the biggest bird there is."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
GroundZero 0 #8 October 4, 2003 as tallguy was getting ready to exit the skyvan on his very first bird-man jump he looked at me and asked, nervously... "well... er, uh, what ya gonna do if i outfly you?" my response, "I fuckin' expect you to outfly me man!" Big-bird... the flyin' machine! (I only wish you got it a few days earlier so we coulda jumped together again at Byron.) Oh well, I'll see ya in Eloy fer sure! Chris
VectorBoy 0 #9 October 4, 2003 What is prefered for rodeos is big wing suit pilot and small piggy back person. You typically end up with a svelt ladie on your back to keep a modicom of glide ratio, Just based on body sizes. Some men have rodeod other male bird-men with great results. Friends of mine have surfed on the backs of bird-man with great double video. We are talking stand up and thrash the wingsuit across the sky. But.... Tall guy your are numero uno gunna be THE choice platform for BIG aggressive style rodeo. Stand -up, handstand, 1-G barrel roll with the rider in a full on stand position, Bad ass manuevers! So get use to HARD core maxed out aerobatic antics and being the MOTHER ship for some fun two ways. I have officially warned you. You must now become a very proficient S3 pilot. Deuce 1 #10 October 4, 2003 Coolio Kevin. I'll get some in air stills of you as soon as mine gets here. Should just be a couple of weeks. I'll be out doing tandem video on Sunday, if you're out then I'll get some pics. JP
TallGuy 0 #11 October 7, 2003 Thanks Deuce. Looks like I'm gonna need it. Tim from Lodi got some video of me trying to fly with someone in Pantz (didn't get a copy). Unfortunately nobody seemed to have a digital camera ready this weekend so no photos yet. Sorry. It was exhausting trying to keep those massive wings positioned to catch the most air. Towards the end of the day my arms were so spent that I had to just let them collapse. Looks like I'm going to have to work out just to keep up with my suit. On a positive note I was averaging a 57 mph fall rate on the first jump of the day and kick ass forward speed. I have high hopes of being able to do much better in the near future. As for being a ride for my fellow skydivers. That's hardly a novel experience. But I'm sure they'll appreciate the extra hang time.

crawford 0 #13 October 7, 2003 Hey Tall Guy, I was on the C-130 when you "broke the door". Not sure if you remember, but I was the dork from Alabama that kept running into you through out the Convention. All I have to say to the rest of you is, "It is very intimidating seeing a man of that size getting on the bird with that big of a freakin' wingsuit." Rock on dude! Hope to fly with you again sometime. "Sure, those Golf Carts may look all warm and fuzzy, but they WILL take a chunk out of your ass!"
TallGuy 0 #14 October 7, 2003 Nah that wouldn't match the rest of my gear. The body is blue except for between the zippers where it's black. The wings are entirely metalic silver which really only matches my hardware but it just looks so cool that I couldn't resist.
TallGuy 0 #15 October 7, 2003 QuoteHey Tall Guy, I was on the C-130 when you "broke the door". Did I break the door? Gee I remember trying to fix it unsuccessfully but that's it. Good thing there were some folks more nimble than myself that day to get the job done or we wouldn't have gotten to play. QuoteNot sure if you remember, but I was the dork from Alabama that kept running into you through out the Convention. I'm sure I'd remember you with a bit more information. But there are just so many dorks in Alabama you guys just blend together. Just kidding guys. If any state had a corner on the market. I'd probably be forced to move there. QuoteAll I have to say to the rest of you is, "It is very intimidating seeing a man of that size getting on the bird with that big of a freakin' wingsuit." Rock on dude! Hope to fly with you again sometime. Absolutely!! But FYI My new suit makes the one you saw me in look normal.

crawford 0 #19 October 8, 2003 Man, just when I was starting to feel good about myself living in Bama-land, you had to point out the obvious. Ha Ha. I am originally from Pennsylvania so I really try my hardest not to "Blend" with the "hillbillies" here. Wow, I have found out the true difference between the north and the South, The north has a cutoff age for sleeping with the parents... (*Just kidding all you southern dudes.) Had to crack back at em... And now that you mention it, I do remember that you DID NOT "break" the door, that you were the only one tall enough to attempt to fix it, my bad!!! Sorry. Look forward to seeing a pic of the new suit, I bet you look like a damn mac truck swooping the sky! Cheers. blair700 0 #20 October 8, 2003 Hey man, If I can give you a piece of advice, watch out for the girls from LA, they are fast movers and rather loose...o and that's not Cali....that's Lower Alabama In the words of the immortal scarface..."yo, she got big cans yo...." Seriously, some of my most memorable flights to date are cruising out at max speed over the Gulf of Mexico....Enjoy!

crawford 0 #24 October 9, 2003 Chris, ummm, I hope that I am just stupid, but what where you refering to? Do I have a balance there? If I do, that had to have been from like 5-6 years ago. Please tell me I don't owe you money!?!?!?! If I do, by god, email me or something so I can get that taken care of! I hate having a short memory! Cheers. And two, I would really like to get some jumps in with ya w/ the skyflyer!!! Give me a buzz dude. Samantha and Kopko both have my number!
