dragon2 2 #1 October 6, 2003 After last weekend, during which I made my first 7 BM flights, I was longing to fly again. Last weekend I did 2- and 3-ways, but now I didn´t have anybody to jump with, so the first jump I just dodged some clouds. Summer´s really over now The wind was kinda bad too, I jump a Spectre 135 for BM which is my biggest canopy, came straight down on final... The second jump I tried a diving exit for the first time: ehm I see the plane? that´s not right... heh heh. Went okay except I did a layout loop. Third jump: did the diving exit again, didn´t go fully over this time... Tried some barrel rolls! Way cool. Landed way out, everybody did, except I had less of an excuse having a suit Who spotted? We all did, for half an hour, and we DID see green. And highway, which is a long way off but because of the really high winds it could have been do-able. And we didn´t want to go down with the plane... The fourth and last jump I made I went tumbling, first time I ever was unstable in a suit. Lost my bearings for a moment, spotted the tandem again so I knew where I was again. Flew my circuit, avoiding the clouds, but ended up in HAIL . Damn that hurts (I have an open freefly helmet). I WAS gonna try frontloops and backloops but decided on the spot to do something about the hail. Did a half barrel roll and actually flew (well, fell, mostly) on my back I was rocking a bit, tried pointing my toes but that made things worse. I was dearching so I suppose if I want to really try backflying I need to arch. Anyway I was less troubled by the hail this way so it worked. Saw another canopy fly through a rainbow (well, from my point of view), so all in all, even tho the weather could have been better, had a great day! My own suit'll take another 5 weeks tho... I saw ground, green light, and the door was open Oh well, we all learned about landing out, landing together, landing near a road (this is the Netherlands folks!), having a pull-up cord on you to field-pack, ..
