TerryB 0 #1 September 24, 2003 I am considering Big Air Sportz Lotus2 as a possible future purchase…I am 57 yrs old with only 40 jumps…I weigh 157 lbs, so with 30 lbs equipment a 190 would put me a little under a 1 to 1 wing loading…(Big Air recommends-beginner to intermediate skydivers are suggested to stay within the 1.0 - 1.2 range.) My question to those of you who have jumped the Lotus2…How are the openings, landings, do you like the canopy, would you recommend it to a new jumper…I fly a Spectre…Appreciative of any input…Thanks... darkwing 5 #2 September 24, 2003 Sounds like a good plan, but why not just downsize the Spectre? What motivates you to switch platforms? -- Jeff My Skydiving History

BikerBabe 0 #4 September 24, 2003 Hi. Why don't you give Big Air a call and ask them about demo options? I jump a jedei (when I'm not broken) and my next canopy (when I fly holes into this one) will probably be a Big Air product. I love the air locks, the design, and the customer service. Just give them a call and see what they can do for you. AndiNever meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! Samurai136 0 #5 September 24, 2003 My understanding is that the Lotus/Lotus 2 are akin to the Sabre 2. I loved the Lotus when I demo'd it. Everything about the canopy is good (openings, landing, piloting, etc). If you're happy w/ the Spectre you could probably get hundreds more jumps out of it building canopy skills before moving to a 'new' canopy. What are you looking for in a 'new' canopy? TerryB 0 #6 September 24, 2003 I may just downsize the Spectre to a 190…Actually one of my first jumps with the Spectre that I did I was coming in to land and I could feel myself being shaken and the canopy made a 45 degree turn…I was told that was the turbulence coming off the hills…The first thing I did during this turbulence was look at the canopy and it was solid, so I was impressed…I like the way it opens, I like the way it flies…My inquiry regarding the lotus stem from me liking what I read about the Lotus off of their web site and talking to Brian…I guess I could like a nine cell canopy also…Just real curious what those of you with experience flying the Lotus think of it…Thanks Terry…
TerryB 0 #7 September 24, 2003 Thank you for the FYI…I did call and was very impressed…I guess that’s why I am searching information…Also I will consider demo if available…Thanks again Terry…
TerryB 0 #8 September 24, 2003 Thanks for the reply and the information…(What am I looking for in a different canopy.) Good question, being I like the Spectre… The flight characteristics of a nine cell canopy can be appealing, add air locks, seems like a bonus…I’m wondering if the Lotus is prone to the occasional hard opening; characteristic of some other canopies…And I realize all canopies are subject able to hard openings, just some more than others…I am curious about their landings…A new guy with forty jumps can be very inquisitive, you guys have the knowledge/understanding and I’m searching for it…Thanks Terry…
PhreeZone 20 #9 September 24, 2003 If you order one tell Brian EXACTLY how you want it to open (if you want different then stock) and he'll adjust the canopy to open the way you want it to. My Jedei has a medium pocket slider on it to give me even longer snivels then normal. I've seen Brian customize longer openings for people before. (He even did it to a canopy I jumped for him)Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
