Tripitaka 0 #3 November 2, 2003 do you need to do any trining or anything or do you just get a suit and off you go?
DeNReN 0 #4 November 2, 2003 1st....I've 467 jumps to go before i can do a birdman jump 2nd....I would certainly hope there is training involved...stable deployement is key in jumping birdman.....cant reach the togles or risers untill loose from suit. 3rd....LouDiamond seems to be the resident birdman expert....A BMCI(birdman chief instructor)....hopefully he or another will come and answer your questions. BTW....I cant wait till I've enough jumps and allowed to try one....
voodew1 0 #5 November 2, 2003 The uspa recommends 500 jumps or 200 in the last 18 months. Canopy should be lower wing loading and performance for beginners and container must be BOC throw out not pull out pilot chutes. All of these are recommendations and can be waived by your instructor on a case to case basis. From what I know you should get at least 1 ground and air eval. by an instructor---I have an instructor coming to central Texas to demo suits and get training for Thanksgiving The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
gus 1 #6 November 2, 2003 Hey Sally, Incase you hadn't spotted it there's a dedicated wingsuit forum here, there are quite a few Birdman instructors in there that can answer your questions. I believe the current recommendation from Birdman is 500 jumps or 200 in the last year. So get jumping GusOutpatientsOnline.com
SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 November 3, 2003 There are a few BirdMan instructors in Australia. Look up Russel Thornton when you get a little more experience. Chuck
kimgriffin 0 #8 November 3, 2003 BirdMan Inc recommends 200 jumps within the past 18 months. It's pretty easy to learn to fly, but proper instruction is the key to staying safe and really learning how to fly the suit. BirdMan has a website you may find interesting: www.bird-man.com Yep, if you want to learn in Australia Russell Thorton is a BMI and BM dealer who has demo suits. fergs 0 #15 November 12, 2003 QuoteHey fergbird, got a suit that'll fit me for friday?? G’day J’bird, Much depends on my new S-3 arriving before Friday. It apparently left Slovenia last Friday. So should have been here by now. Hopefully the postie will drop it off to me by tomorrow evening. Then I’ll have the GTi available as a demo suit. My other new demo Classic is due to arrive at the end of the month. The GTi may be a tad too big, but lets see how it looks on you on Friday. Blue Skies, fergbird
