flyhilo2 0 #1 May 10, 2004 I went head down after a barrel role and when I checked my ditter my max speed was 175 is anybody else getting that kind of speed?
ManBird 0 #2 May 10, 2004 Nice. 161 was my fastest ever... about 10 MPH off my suitless head down. This was after staying headdown for about fifteen seconds. Hit some very slow speeds pulling out of it. Had a few between 130 and 150, as well. Same thing... diving and pulling out to get some very slow speeds (and have a lot of fun). I did eventually find, though, that those same low fall rates can be hit without a dive."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
flyhilo2 0 #3 May 10, 2004 I never thought about tring to get a slow fall rate out of the dive. I will try that next time thanks.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 May 10, 2004 Then why were you diving head-down in your wingsuit? Just to see if you could do it? Myself and several good friends frequently go into steep, speed-building dives at mid altitude in order to "flare" out and get max lift. Doing so also really confuses the people happilly flocking along with you. They can't understand how you can dive down WAY below them, yet end up hundreds of feet in front of and higher than them. flyhilo2 0 #5 May 11, 2004 The truth is the barrel role didnt go as planed and I ended up head down which turned out to be a lot of fun so I went with it. My slowest speed is 58 and Iam 270 out the door should I expect to be slower for my size? I have about 20 jumps on wing suit.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #6 May 11, 2004 Got it. When doing barrel rolls, remember to get very "flat" and tap your feet together when you invert. This keeps you from tail-spinning down and away. Chuck
flyhilo2 0 #7 May 11, 2004 Thanks,When you start your role do you keep your legs together until after you bring your wings out or both at the same time?

And backing up the other responses, the general rule for rotation tricks (barrel rolls, front loops, and back loops) is to keep your tail closed. If you punch the suit out for a half second or so before throwing a trick, you lose little to no altitude, and can even perform a trick while slowing your fall rate. ***My slowest speed is 58 and Iam 270 out the door should I expect to be slower for my size? I have about 20 jumps on wing suit. 270 out the door with 20 flights? 58 sounds just fine, my friend. Depends on your height, too. If you're four feet tall, then you're kicking ass. If you're eight feet tall, you can expect some improvement down the road. I'm assuming you're neither."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
flyhilo2 0 #9 May 11, 2004 Thanks I will try that. On the front flips I assume you bring your arms to your side to get started head down then bring your legs together and bend to your chest. And viceversa for the back loop. Oh I am 5 foot 10 inches 240lbs of rompin stompin female satisfaction. little humor from an old guy.
