pbla4024 0 #1 May 11, 2004 BTW they claim: "Birdman (US based Europians), they continue in development of De Gayardon's concept". Could somebody put some light on it? Fido
piisfish 140 #2 May 11, 2004 as I understand the article, the so called BM/Deug concept is the wings "separated" from the body, to the contrary of teh monobloc concept Crossbow/SFly/Matterscissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

ManBird 0 #5 May 11, 2004 QuoteI mean author claims De Gayardon is originator of this concept. I don't think anyone, not even BirdMan, would argue that the Classic took up where Patric's suit left off. Granted, it had some construction improvements right up front, but the concept of the wing shape, cutaway system, and body+wings were evidently borrowed. Loic's one-wing concept came up as a solution when Patric had problems appropriately attaching the wings to a RW suit. Loic started making his own suit based on this idea. It wasn't marketed/sold until 2000, when Parasport Italia took it up. The wing shape, cutaway system, and one-wing concept were fairly different than what Patric was working on. Patric was not the father of wingsuit flying in general, but he was definitely the man behind the modern wingsuit that could be flown safely and effectively."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click

jmfreefly 0 #11 May 12, 2004 I am pretty sure that you will never find pictures of his suit in detail. This was (as I recall reading/discussing with Jari) a big hurdle in trying to mimic his suit. Maybe I am wrong, but otherwise, I would expect to see webpages with comparisons of the suits, with all the bird-geeks out there. I remember hearing anecdotes about what happened to his suits, but I don't recall exactly who supposedly had them now. j

piisfish 140 #13 May 12, 2004 I think Philippe Besnier from Toutazimut in Chimillin (France) did some work for his suits. Don't think Phillippe has a website, but you might find his email in the Paramag website as he has advertisement therescissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
kevin922 0 #14 May 12, 2004 Quote a big hurdle in trying to mimic his suit. I might be reading what you are saying incorrectly, but the birdman suit was designed by Robi from the ground up - not in an attempt to mimic DeG's suit. Robi told me he had only seen one picture or so of DeG's before making the first prototype birdman suit. Quote I remember hearing anecdotes about what happened to his suits, but I don't recall exactly who supposedly had them now. I haven't heard anything, but I'd venture to guess that Adrian Nicholas might have them. He was there when the incident happened and continued the "wingsuit dream" with his designs, he just never commercialized on them. He was a good friend of DeG and I believe was active during the whole development of DeG's suit. Kevin
