ifics 0 #1 September 30, 2003 I have been looking in the classifieds and on ebay. I know what canopy I am looking for (size at least) but am having trouble finding the container I want (I know, looks don't matter, but I don't want an ugly ass container. I plan on using it for awhile) Should I buy a new container, cypress and reserve? Then buy a used main? I have gotten over the price part but I dont want to spend 5k I bet most of you are tired of answering questions like these, sorry....
lazerq3 0 #2 September 30, 2003 All I'd say is that new or used...it doesnt really matter...if it fits you great and its comfortable to you... its FF friendly ...and it is a safe container...and it fits in your budget GET IT!!! We can argue new or used all night but if all those work for you then get what will work for you...dont by used just to save a buck if your not happy and dont buy NEW jsut to say its NEW and looks really cool...get what works for you!! Not sure if that helps but I'm just kinda straight to the point!! jasonFreedom of speech includes volume
Chrisky 0 #3 September 30, 2003 Well, the harness should fit you really good if you wanna use it for a while. Thus, used might be made for someone else, but try it, if it fits, fine. Why not get a used reserve, the question is, second-hand, never actually used, or deployed ten times and then taken out for sale... No objections on a used Cypres, check out the ssk website, they even have a calculator for a used cypres resale value, so you know what you're looking at. Used Main, yeah, why not? Just got mine new because the model hasn't reached the used market yet. (My Canopies' serial # is under 500) The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ...

pringles 0 #5 September 30, 2003 What is your height and weight? What size canopy are you looking to get? What is your expirence level? Matt Davies
ifics 0 #6 September 30, 2003 6' 165lbs, I have 13 jumps. I don't want to pay gear rental fee's at my DZ which is the main reason I want my own shizzy. I am looking for a 210 main. I have flown a 200 as well though.
PhillyKev 0 #7 September 30, 2003 Personally, I bought all new when I got my gear. But, that's because I'm really picky. The only thing I would personally not buy used is the container, because I want the harness sized for me. Makes a big difference in comfort.
ifics 0 #8 September 30, 2003 Does Javelin not have a website? For some reason I can't find it...

Check the classifieds here. There is one in particular that stick in my mind... By buying a new contianer, you'll get a harness that fits you like a glove, is colors that don't make you want to barf (it's okay to admit you want your colors -- we jump partly because it makes us feel cool and it's hard to feel cool in ugly gear), and all the bells and whistles that you want. Buy the rest used -- you'll probably never see the reserve anyway and you might be discarding mains like candy wrappers throughout your first 500 jumps, so save yourself some money!
