moonglo 0 #1 November 17, 2004 I know a lot has been posted about which rigs are wingsuit friendly or offer birdman mods, but I can't find anything on the new icon harness/containers. I have to get a new rig, and soon, due to a main lift web partial failure on my Vector v2-2 from 1992 and was wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about the icon? If you would like to cover any other reserve-pilot-chute-enclosed rigs (Vector 3M, Mirage G3 or G4), I'd love to hear your opinions. I would be freeflying in this rig as well. Thanks in advance. SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 November 17, 2004 The Icon is a fine wingsuit rig and you can order them with longer bridles stock.
The111 1 #3 November 17, 2004 My Vector 3 has worked fine for me on my 60 or so WS jumps. I have a long bridle and my corners are cut 2/3 of the way down. I pack "almost" grommet to pin (I rotate the bag about 45 degrees from normal). I used to get line twists sometimes but have gone probably 15 jumps without them now so I think it has a lot to do with me and not the gear.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
voodew1 0 #4 November 17, 2004 Jenn, I have just ordered a Icon/Pilot/Smart rig. I was told that 117 inch bridle was standard though they do not offer "open" corners at this time. Aubrey has said that he has had no issuses flying his suit with his Icon. Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
LouDiamond 1 #5 November 18, 2004 The Icon is a suitable Birdman rig. In fact I know of 3 people who jump them regularly one being a BMI. No matter what rig you decide on one thing to keep in mind when ordering. Laterals can be a pain in the ass if you have the comfort pads or two pieces of webbing often found on mirage, odyssey and others rigs. This is usually an option so if you don't have to have it it's best to go with the stock lateral. (See examples for what I am talking about ) I have found that rigs with the laterals configured this way often require that the 3rd and 4th tabs on the back of the wing be skipped to avoid damage to the suit because of their bulk or width."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
voodew1 0 #6 November 18, 2004 I am sure that Scott knows what he is talking about but I have 2 rigs with cut in lats and have absolutely no problems along with 2 other wingsuit flyers who have rigs with cut in laterals on our small cessna dz. I don't see it as being a problem as long as you have read the instructions as how to hook the suit to the rig properly skipping the wing attachment not the body. The next rig that will be delivered to me will also have cut in laterals Edit to add: The icon comes standard with cut in laterals on sizes up to I4 which holds mains and reserves up to a 150' ----I am not sure if this can be changed or not - I personally like the feel of a rig with cut in laterals but that is my personal preferance. notsane 0 #7 November 18, 2004 I jump an Icon and it works great. I pack the D-bag with the pin towards my feet and my Birdman openings are pretty consistant. I'd have bought it even if I wasn't an Aerodyne sponsored BMI ...

John4455 0 #9 November 22, 2004 I jumped my new Aerodyne Rig (Icon/Pilot/Smart) on my wingsuit this weekend. The corners are open enough and it works great. How do ya like it Johnny?
