mccordia 74 #1 December 14, 2004 I was just curious..as the subject came up in the V1 thread. How many people have tweaked their own suit? Mine has some added loops on the arm-zippers that I can put over my thumb, so the zipper won't come undone in flight, and is a bit easyer to close if I'm wearing something baggy underneath my wingsuit. Basicly just two small loops, and something I've seen on a ton of peoples suits already....but it's a nice bit of added comfortI've also seen a few suits (GTI/S1) with added grippers on the wing, but especialy after reading about people who 'modded' their suit with some added wing (be it just an non-inflateable extention or actualy enlarged/lengthened cells on the wings?) I got real excited about seeing those mods and read up on their performance.. Not that I'm ever thinking of doing anything to my own suit (I'm still tweaking and modding the pilot) But for curiousity sake, I'd just love to see pictures and examples of what people accomplished with home-rigging/sewing skills! Or maybe just cool visual tweaks (callsigns/shark teeth/chute flyby numbers marked off...you name it) Would love to see!JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? VectorBoy 0 #2 December 14, 2004 I added wingtip grippers to pre production S-3 that had none. They are about 3/4 of an inch thick and work very well.

moonglo 0 #4 December 20, 2004 I was thinking of adding wingtip grippers to my GTI and was wondering what everyone else has done that worked well? Pictures would be great! -Jenn
SkymonkeyONE 4 #5 December 20, 2004 There are pics of the wingtip grippers I have on my GTi somewhere. Scott put them on when he had that suit. It's basically just just cutaway cable wrapped in binding tape and sewn to from the wrist down about a foot on the trailing edge. Very easy to grip. dragon2 2 #6 December 20, 2004 Use a flexible piece of tubing for the inside, use something that can take the temperature changes. I used gasoline tubing, think it's latex (rubber). Plastic usually is no good. I've seen other people's inside thingies brake up. Not really a problem I suppose but mine are much better ciel bleu, Saskia

Pictures would be great! -Jenn I recommended to one of the people at the BirdMan Skills Camp in Eloy on adding grippers similar to the ones on the S3 on his GTI. He walked over to RI and had them sewn on after that day was done. He noticed a big difference and best of all I think it cost him 5-10 bucks. Wingtip grippers will eventually become a standard item on the GTI and or new line of suits."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
greybeard 0 #8 December 21, 2004 I've added wing grippers to my SI, (among other mods), with rain gutter ferrels from home depot. They are longer and stiffer than the grippers that come on the S3, and similar to those shown on the new VI. They made a huge difference to the arm wing profile and give me lots of variable positions regards wrist twisting input.
bodypilot1 0 #9 December 21, 2004 Any pics of the leg wing widening you did on your suit? Edwww.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
skyflyer438 0 #11 December 29, 2004 I added a loop going from the lower tip of my wing around my hand , killed all flapping of the wing and is not a problem at pull time , therefore no holdind the wing and having a much more comfy flight, if anyone wants to see a pic , im me and ill take a pic and send it. birdman hates the idea , thinking you will throw your pilot through it, my pinkey and ring finger close anyway during my pull so it is no prob and makes the suit fly sooooo much nicer.
