The111 1 #1 December 18, 2004 Got and jumped my new S3 today. It fits perfect, the flight was intense and fun, I was shaking under canopy. :) However... I had a little bit more forward throw than I prefer on the opening (my lower back did not prefer it either)... and I knew it was coming. On my GTI, I've always locked my knees together and "sink out" for a few seconds before deploying. On the S3 I did a bunch of practice pulls up high and every time I tried to push my knees together they were stopped by what felt like a giant air bladder (the inflated wing obviously). I decided at the time that the wing was simply too powerful or something and I was unable to deflate it as the air kept rushing in. So at "real" pull time, the same thing happened... I got my knees as close as I could, sighed, tossed, and braced myself. It wasn't too bad, but I was still disappointed I couldn't lock the knees. On the ground later that night when I was rolling my suit up to put it in my bag, I noticed something... the wings still had a tiny bit of air in them (whatever ambient pressure kept in there), and as I rolled it up I had to put quite a bit of pressure on it, and hold it for a second, to get the air to leak out, not unlike packing a canopy. So now I think that is the real reason I "couldn't" collapse my wing fully and get my knees to touch on the skydive. I probably gave up as soon as I felt the "air bladder" resist my knees, when I should have just persevered and kept squeezing for a few more seconds to bleed the air out. This is all surprising to me since on my GTI it never contained air that well, and it was supposed to be virtually new when I got it. Maybe my S3 has super ZP? :) Any thoughts? Ever happened to anyone else? Very weird to feel that "balloon" between my knees. I swear I was squeezing as hard as I could and it would not deflate. Oh well, I will try again tomorrey...www.WingsuitPhotos.com
KrisFlyZ 0 #2 December 18, 2004 Beer [Beer]. The only times I felt the wing hard to close was when I was flying at a steep angle(to get away from the flock). I did notice that my openings were a little quicker than usual on these jumps. Before this I was mostly flying maxed out but parallel to the horizon(I think ) and never had this issue. Maybe your leg wing has airlocks Kris. Edited to make more sense (hopefully....)
