wingsuit buying advice please...

Recommended Posts

hey guys... I just got back from the holiday boogie in eloy where I did my first BM jump. I went through the course with Ash and put 5 jumps on a classic. the next day Ash let me try out an S1 [didn't have a GTI in my size but said I could handle the S1]. wasn't all too stoked about the S1 so I found an S3 to try. holy shit... i think that was the most amazing jump I have ever had. I am sure that I am far from maxing out the suit but I did have a ton of fun. after I got back home I had to order a suit right away but what still bugs me is that I didn't get to try the matter suit.
I have been tracking a lot and have been experimenting with the wider stance tracking technique that also implies a steeper pitch and I get some amazing results from it.
anyways... my S3 came in today [stock suit, i know I couldn't wait ;)], but to my disappointment it doesn't fit me.
so now I am back to square one and have to custom order a suit and brace myself for the long wait.
what bugs me now is that I would really like to try a matter suit or at least get some advice from someone that has flown it. a lot of people on here have mentioned those monowing design suits to be floaty and having less forward speed. looking at it and comparing it to normal tracking it seems to me that if flown at the proper pitch angle it might give you even greater forward speed than the S3. is that true? would I be better off learning in an S3 and then moving to another type suit?
Is the S3 the better all around suit?
I know BM deems their S3 to be an expert suit but I didn't have any problems with it on my 8th BM jump.
I am 5.8/150lbs... anybody out there with a similar physique that would be willing to let me try their suits? :-D

I guess you can tell I am hooked, hehehe.
