Docspidey 0 #1 October 6, 2003 Hey, This will be a tough, broad topic to handle, but I'm coming off of student status and want to buy a custum fitted new container with used canopy. Trouble is, it's next to impossible to weed through all the rhetoric and find the best company to chose! I was hoping that people could tell why (specifically) they chose the containers they did. I live in a cold weather/snow laden environment, so it'll be years before I downsize to the point of needing a new container; I prefer to have one custum fit. I'm just looking for a secure, reliable container that will hold well when I start freeflying. Thanks for the input! Doc
skybytch 273 #2 October 6, 2003 imho, you can choose any of the containers available on the US market and you'll likely be very happy with it - it will be secure, reliable and freefly safe. This doesn't mean that non-US gear is bad, just that I know nothing about equipment that isn't sold in the US. Questions to ask yourself - 1) How much can I afford to spend on a new container? Base and option prices vary from one manufacturer to another. Compare the total prices with all the options you want. 2) How long am I willing to wait for my new custom container? Currently delivery times range from 6 to 26 weeks. 3) Which containers do I like the look of? 4) Which manufacturers seem to do the best job of pre- and post-sale customer service? A quick search in this forum on "customer service" will get you a bunch of opinions on that. All that said, I chose the Infinity because I like how it looks, the manufacturer bends over backwards to take care of their customers, the price is lower than many other rigs and the delivery time was reasonable. I'm very happy with my choice.
