Do a search bro, there's been endless discussion about landing suits without a rig.

However i was watching tv the other night and saw some of that ski jumping stuff and wondered what would happen if you stuck one of those dudes in a PF tracking suit. Anyone want to add some thoughts?

they would crash beyond the K point... or would need longer landing slopes.
In teh new rules they now have a "wingloading" factor which is important because the guys were all anorexic. So they now determine the size of the skis according to the weight/size ratio (or something quite similar). They also used to have swoop chords and stuff in order to increase the surface.

The last time I watched ski jumping it seemed to me they had wide, stiff inserts in the front of the legs (and possibly arms) on their suits.

Same idea as a tracking suit , just a different design?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

You seem to know quite a bit about ski jumping! How long does it take to become a ski jumper? Couple of years, working up size of ramp gradually?

We could all chip in and pay for 'bro's training, then he could test the effects of track pants / ws etc. B|

Untill exit it's just like a freefly suit. The wings don't come out untill you are actualy flying....:P

I wonder how hard it would be to actually build such a thing? Picture some kind of spring loaded swoop cord system that expands the wings and pulls them up to the arms...

I'm pretty sure the ski jumping rules disallow any kind of flight aids. I recall reading an article that discussed the evolution of that sport in Scandinavia, and it seems like they've already gone through the stage of inventing, then disallowing, tracking gear. If they'd allow it, I bet it would become a super cool wingsuit laboratory, though. ;)

That's what wingsuit BASE jumpers and wingsuit beginners need.
The Phoenix beginner suit is a step in that direction.

a couple of friends used to jump, and are still close to the jumping world... takes some time, and to me it takes big balls even to go on the small ramps...
