veter_ 0 #1 June 7, 2005 I love horizontal flight, don't have a WS yet (Prodigy is coming ), so I'm just playing with tracking for now. I measured my tracks with GPS (Etrex Vista C) and got 1.4mi horizontally from 13.5K to 4.5K. This translates to about 0.8:1 glide ratio and average horizontal speed about 85mph. I was flying straight course 90 degrees to jump run, winds were low. No suit, just cotton hiking pants and a T-shirt. Just wondering what glide ratio is achievable by good trackers without any special aids? What angle of attack gives better glide?
