Instant Vertical Speed reading

Looking at the thread about the "Audible Glide Angle" I was wondering if there is any device that show your fall rate in real time. It would be like an altimeter but read you fall rate speed.

it's called a variometer... Don't know if such a device exists with fall speeds... Would be nice though... Would also be a cool gizmo under canopy.

I've used my Garmin Geko 301 on a chest mount to do just that. Along with readings of forward speed and altitude.

yep; I mounted my vista c on my ring cover and it works fine. takes about 2 seconds to pick up the signal from the sat as you exit é

Perhaps some altimeter device could be integrated with these goggles featuring a head up display: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4626823.stm#update3 pretty cool tech. Even the builtin compass would be useful, I think.
