Preview - New Phoenix Fly Suit

Recommended Posts

That suit have some familiriaty of two of BM suits. Now, this is my observation and I'm not starting any drama against any manufacturer (it's really old). But the leg wing looks similar to the skyflyer1 model and the arm wings looks like a modern or more sofisticaded version of the classic suit. I know that you would say that they are entirely different things and all the blah behind it. i can see the leading edge of the arm is like the V1 but the shape of the wings (as seen on picture) made me think like that.

Again, I just like to flock with whatever suit is out there. I just wanted to share my observation and I'm not into the drama between all wingsuits manufactures.

I've gone through the great length to translate the above posts to the Bottom Line: " It's gonna rock!!! "

Now all I wanna know is how long till the first shipments get out. B|

I'm not that familiar with many different suits, but the Phantom is a pretty cool suit. James was using it the whole weekend to flock with us, and he had a great range of flying in it. It seemed very stable (well, he is an awesome flyer too), we docked a couple times. Good fun.

But what really struck out was during one jump I had opened a little higher (4000ft) and watched James from under my canopy. He flew on... and on... and on.... and it seemed like he wasn't losing any altitude! He said he later pulled cause he was above the landing spot because there was quite a bit of wind, but I'm sure he could've kept going for quite a while.

It was amazing. I want one!

I also tried out the Vampire yesterday. It's quite a beast (I usually fly a Classic II). It was very fast and a lot of fun. I don't have enough experience to compare it to an S3 though (which I have flown a couple times).

Edit: added some pics. Pictures by Saskia Z (www.dragon2.nl).

Cheers.

Long flights,

Hello all...

Is that a pull-out PC that I see on the pic, or just a pull-out style pud attached to a throw-out?

Hi Ivan,

out of interest can I ask what suit you currently jump?

But the leg wing looks similar to the skyflyer1 model

hmmm, the S1 leg wing has a completely different design, with a large leg inlet (duct) a butt deflector, a completely different wing profile, different shape trailing edge etc..

Quote

the arm wings looks the classic suit

again, different inlets, profile, trailing edge, construction, dimensions, gripper etc etc.

As stated earlier, the designer is the same, that explains the "familiar".

When you see the suit in person AND even more importantly when you have FLOWN the Phantom you will really understand the beauty and originality of the Phantom design.

I was flocking with the Phantom this weekend, it is a dream to fly and offers an amazing performance range.

Full product details will be released shortly.

Long flights,
James

I was worried that your reply took so long :PB| Guess being busy flying that thing. James I fly a skyflyer3. Already flew the prodigy at the dz.com boogie in lake wales a few weekends back. It was fun to be a beginner suit...and I was amazed how much I floated with it (even more than someone in a V1), wanted to demo de V1 but there were none for my size ....damn it! Telling you this to demonstrate that I'm not in favor of any manufacturer and don't want to be drag to that drama.

Now in reply of your reply:

You explained all differences (or basic differences) of my observations, but I noticed most of those difference in the pictures but still you can see some "cosmetical" or external design that look a little familiar, but then again is different in so many ways as you already described.

Hopefully any Phoenix-Fly suits can be sent to Puerto Rico in order to demo them and therefore when I see the Phantom in person then I can realize (since pictures are not perfect clear and big enough) to see all difference as you say....that happened to me in lake wales when I saw the V1 and Prodigy for the *beer* time that I finally understood all the things already spoken about the suits (construction/design/mylar ribs/wings leading edge material/etc.)

Blue ones,
