Prodigy impressions from a newborn

Recommended Posts

Flew Prodigy on July 4th weekend, made my first 19 wingsuit jumps. Results:

1. Can't stop smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
2. Flew about 40 miles total, chased cars on highways, did a rodeo, swooped a cloud and flew in tunnels inside it!!!

3. Slowest vertical speed - 60mph (measured by Neptune at 9K and 6K), average speeds about 72mph, typical horizontal speed 100mph (2.5mi in 90 seconds, measured by GPS), freefall time improved from 78 seconds in maiden flight to 90 seconds (from 13.5K to 5K), longest flight - 102s from about 15K. I'm 235lbs out the door, 6'2".

4. Prodigy is very easy to fly! No problems whatsoever, even in maiden flight. Exits are easy. The feeling of clearly seeing your horizontal speed against the ground even at 13.5K is incredible. A little potato chipping here and there while trying to find the optimal angle of attack, otherwise the suit is very stable. Stable deployments are easy (although I did get a linetwist on my last jump - I was very tired). Releasing the wings after deployment is instantaneous. Shoelace straps are easy to release simply by stepping on the tab with your other foot. Suit only takes 1-2 minutes to put on.

All in all, this is an incredible wingsuit for beginners. I'm in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And still smiling........................ :)

Yuri, you were the one with the suit at the Ranch when I was there Saturday. I've got a picture of you in it somewhere I need to post. I wish I could have gone flocking with you and Pete in it but Pete and I did 3 and I had to go for the weekend. It looks good, I wish I could have flown beside you to see how it flies.

I did tell about my adventures to several whuffos, and got them smiling, too! It looks like stories about flying like a bird get them more interested and less defensive than the stories about regular freefall. Perhaps, they think it's more safe :D

Next time at the Ranch will probally be fall again. I only get up there when the GF wants to see her folks or we want to go hang out with Jerm again. You looked like you were having fun flying it. Go fly with Pete some, he's really good on his back and can get you some nice pointers.

Yo!

I too had my first skydive on a Prodigy this past weekend. I was WAY impressed with the performance of this suit. This suit is PERFECT for beginners, but will also come in handy for the experienced pilot as well.;)
I attached a couple of video grabs from a 2-way skydive, I was in my V1 and my buddy was in the Prodigy, he only had 1 GTI jump and 2 Prodigy jumps prior to this one.
Thanks to Morpheus Tech for sending the demo, and Phoenix-Fly for making this suit which is sure to open the door to many new flyers! Truly another human flight innovation!

Here's something funny: I did my first rodeo with my friend, we kept stable for 4000 feet, then flipped, and as he bailed, he accidentally cutaway my wings. When I landed, Neptune showed 138mph at 12K and 9K. We fell like a rock! 450lbs of meat on small wings... We probably didn't move an inch horizontally :D

Maybe next time we try to invite sitflyers to our "rodeo" :P
