Tonto 1 #1 August 2, 2005 It's been 13 years since I last jumped this aircraft. We'll be using one for the African Freefall Convention later this year. When I think back to those days, I remember the exit speeds were fast, the air was hard and smooth. I think the aircraft will be great for gaining altitude after exits, but less than ideal for larger flocks due to everyone wanting to ride the relative wind up the hill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-32 Anyone jumped one of these with a wingsuit? tIt's the year of the Pig. maretus 0 #2 August 2, 2005 We wingsuited from An-26 couple of years ago in Swedish Friflaj festival and by looking at the pics the two planes look pretty much alike. Sensei Vesa from Finland was really enjoying the high exit speed and climbing well above the plane on each exit. There might be some videos from those exits on internet but at least there is a pic of vesa shooting up from the ramp : http://users.utu.fi/vejuto/image3.jpg.http://www.ufufreefly.com
Tonto 1 #3 August 2, 2005 Yeah, they're very, very similar, the 32 just takes more jumpers! I'll have a look at the links when I get home from work and have more bandwidth available! Thanks! tIt's the year of the Pig.

Tonto 1 #5 August 2, 2005 I don't mean to Hijack my own thread..... But... Is that a monkey on your back? tIt's the year of the Pig.
The111 1 #6 August 2, 2005 QuoteIs that a monkey on your back? Nope, it's a monkey on my shoulder. Ever since I put up this avatar I had like 6 people at the DZ this past weekend ask me about it. Fortunately I already typed the whole explanation in a PM to someone else so I'll just past it below... A few months ago I visited a friend in Netherlands. She took me to this monkey park/zoo in Apeldoorn where all these different kinds of monkeys run semi-free. The squirrel monkeys are the most friendly and will run up and climb all over you, but only because they are trying to find something to steal. They give you these bags called "monkey free bags" with special zippers to stow all your belongings in, since the monkeys can't operate the zippers. I think the name is funny, "monkey proof" would be more accurate, but I guess there are no monkeys INSIDE the bag, so monkey free works too. Here are pics from my trip... 007-023 are of the monkey park... 009&010 are of the monkey on my shoulder. 034 is another one of my favorites, and another picture with a cool animal on me... this time it's a falcon! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Columbus monkeys in Kenya, the first one was seconds before the handler put some nuts in my shirt pocket. The monkeys then had a fight. On me.....Lee _______________________________ In a world full of people, only some want to fly, is that not crazy? http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk

I had an idea it was nearby, but I did not bring gear with me as it was not a skydiving trip. Maybe next time. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
Tonto 1 #11 August 2, 2005 I'm not on the organising committee - but it looks set. The AN32 is for sure. The CASA is a maybe, mainly because the army will only allow 20 jumpers. There's a possible C-130 - but only if enough people register to make it worth it, and only for 3 days of the boogie. I've heard nothing about the Puma. I'm hoping for around 25 wingsuits - and that's from everywhere, so I think it's possible. It's 5 months away and the work started about 5 months ago. tIt's the year of the Pig.
