Looking for wing suit info

Recommended Posts

Been interested in learning how to fly a wing suit. Can anyone give me a good website to look at or have any other good suggestions. For example, like in FF you need to learn head up before HD. What do I need to learn before I try wings? Thanks for the help.

This is a good website ;), along with www.flybirdman.com. Also, check out the manufacturer websites:

www.phoenix-fly.com
www.bird-man.com
www.flyyourbody.com
www.jii-wings.com
www.matterclothing.com

Phoenix Fly, Bird Man and Fly Your Body all have excellent user manuals which talk about the way the suits rig up and work, and also about body position.
Do a bunch of tracking dives. Practice flat tracking and the wingsuit deployment position.
Most importantly, talk to your local flockers and get their ideas about what you need to be doing. Get training and advice from them.

you may want to focus on tracking, big tracking ways, and try to get your fall rate slower.

get at least 200 jumps and you are redy to go.

Wake up!

Whats this talk about flat tracking and all?

Flat is out, flat is slow and wrong!

My advise is, regardles of if your tracking or in a wingsuit, speed is the key!

Double the speed and you quadruple the lift!

flat=stalling, steep=speed and lift

The day can learn that and fly with straight legs and steeper and in formation, then you will fly insted of stalling around the skies

Learn from the freeflyers, look at their tracking jumps. Why do you think they track like they do instead of flat? Speed is controll...

Watch and learn..;)

You misunderstood me. When I say 'flat', I'm refering to glide. He needs to practice tracking and manuvering in an efficient body position, and not in a suck ass student diving delta track. And please believe me when I tell you, I'm all about forward speed. Nothing bothers me more than playing 'stall wars' with some floaty fucker.

Cool vid. I've got a 'track or die' vid that I think is the same guy (espen). Balls of rock.

Glad we speak the same language Professor,

I wouldn't brag about that!!!!!

You both must just be mad that us floaty fuckers have more range -- we can go fast or slow both vertically and horizontally --- but Professor has me and most others smoked and in that horizontal plane.

Range? If your looking for range just start hanggliding or by a sailplane... [:/]

With them monstersuits big as sails your starting to look like some anyway.. :D

Well i guess is really funny to float from a to b as slow as possible playing "stall wars".. :P

Ok, enough bullshit from me, people like different flyingstyles, and I guess thats ok! :(

Adios,

Huh? I don't know, man. In my 800+ wingsuit flights I have done some very slow flying and some very, very fast flying. I chase a lot of students around the sky and the ability to do both is exactly what I need (and what I have). Your experience may vary if you pigeon-hole yourself into only one wingsuit usage.

I'm gonna have to agree with Chuck on this one. It's not just utilitarian either... it's fun! My favorite part of any group dive is going out last, diving hard to the formation, and feeling the G's as I put on the brakes and change from one mode of flight to another.

And by the way, what is the deal with that picture? And why is his head so small? :D
