LouDiamond 1 #1 April 28, 2006 The Aeroclub del Pacifico will be holding the 2nd freefly/wingsuit boogie this weekend in Cali, Colombia at the Bonilla Aragón airport. A full line of wing suits will be available for demo as well as goodies from PD, Vigil and Alti-2 to play with. LouDiamond 1 #2 May 2, 2006 The wing suit / freefly boogie in Cali, Colombia turned out to be a fantastic event. Colombia now has a few more Birdmen in their flock. Congrats to Juan Manuel, Hugo, and Juanita for joining the flock. The DZ is located on the northern most end of the Bonilla Aragón airport which also happens to be an International airport. Besides the fantastic country side scenery, there is nothing like flying in a wing suit over the tower of an International airport and looking down on several 747 aircraft parked at the gates as you parallel the runway on your way back to the landing area. Even though it is an International airport and much to my relief, air traffic consisted mostly of skydive operations for the entire weekend. Even more of a surprise was the facilities the Aero club Del Pacifico skydivers call their drop zone. While the club is definitely what most would consider a typical small DZ, the amenities on site rank up there with what one would expect to find at a resort. With an on site kitchen which can only be described as true home cooking, one doesn't have to go far to eat a hearty and healthy meal between loads. Like wise, the DZ provided a shuttle to the accommodations located in Cali proper at the Dann Carlton Hotel which offered 5 star service at a fraction of the price one would expect to pay let alone while attending a boogie. Like most small DZs, the people pretty much all know one another and are extremely friendly to visiting skydivers. The entire event was put together by the president of the club and several of its members. A big thanks goes out to Al, Chris and 'Chelo for all of thier hard work to make this event happen and to make it hassle free for the skydivers from Bogota and other parts of Colombia to make the event. Likewise a huge thanks goes out to PD, Alti-2, Vigil, Jump Shack,BirdMan, Karen's pizza, the Dann Carlton hotel, the shuttle service, the pilots and the staff that worked the kitchen and grounds at the DZ.for their support. This is definately a DZ worth checking out if you're ever in Colombia."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
