LouDiamond 1 #2 June 23, 2006 I believe you mean Forerunner 301 as there is no Foretrex 301. In comparrison, between the 2 receivers, the 301 IS NOT ideal as it does not have a WAAS/EGNOS capability and it costs more. The Forerunner 301 is a heart rate monitor on steroids IMO. It does log at 1 second intervals and it's warm/cold start times are similar to other receivers. Unless you need the heart monitor function, you would be better off with a ForeTrex 101/201 and you would have enough money left over for 1 jump ticket, lunch and 2 beers.
