With or without LQRS

Recommended Posts

Hi,

was in the same situation. Currently have a GTI without LQRS. However as the cost adder is not that high, I ordered it on the S6. I think it is additional safety, e.g. if you are low (maybe under your reserve), or if leg zippers are jammed you can easily and quickly open the leg wing. Free legs help a lot on landing

Yeah I'd recommend getting it. If you're ever in trouble, for instance low under your reserve and finding yourself having to land downwind (for example), it's nice to be able to get that leg wing off quickly. Yeah, it's a bit of a stretch, the scenario, but I have heard of a story of a guy who was in the habit of just leaving his leg wing zipped up (it was a Phantom I believe, so enough "leg room" to walk out most landing), but this guy made a downwind landing one time and he got really badly messed up.

I have never used my LQRS on any of the five suits that I have had that option on, but I am glad it's there. Personally, if it's a money issue, then I wouldn't have any problem deleting that option.

what he said..
and since it is a option, it will boost the resale value compared to a suit w/o it.

absolutely ask for it !! and ask it on the opposite side of your pilote chute, so you'll be able to use the cut-away cable for cutting away also a smoke can bracket if you build one ...

If you select the BASE pouch option and LQRS, the LQRS is automatically placed on the left leg by the mfgr due to space issues.

Its not a stretch, it happened to me. I wasn't low on a reserve I was just just transfixed watching my gear and some puke pull his car over to snatch it that I forgot to finish unzipping until a few hundred feet. LQRS to the rescue. The guy saw me run after my gear and decided to leave it alone.

I completely agree with Chuck, i had one but never used it. It made sense for S1 with a narrow leg wing, but on the new suits with wider wings you can usually kick out without opening the leg wing. No harm in having LQRS, but no real need either. I do not have it on Vampires that i use in skydiving/base environment.

bsbd!

I jump a big suit without LQRS since 85 jumps.

This is the profile police!

Maybe you could update your profile.

Or maybe you only count wingsuit jumps. Or maybe you did AFF in a wingsuit. Or static line (now there's a scary thought :o I can imagine wanting an LQRS for that :P)
Johan.
I am. I think.

right.. and if you dont update it, it's meanlingless :P

Its still meaningless. I personally know guys with over 300 wingsuit jumps that can barely exit and fly stable, yet I have seen 120 jump inexperienced, instructorless nuggets nail their first exit and fly efficiently, navigate accurately and deploy safely on a borrowed less than perfect fitting suit ....... without so much as reading the manual.

I'm not glorifying or recommending this to anyone. Just making a point that numbers may not be best source reference to judge someones capability or experience.
