Dropzone.com 2006 Holiday boogie-Wingsuits

Recommended Posts

The time is growing nearer people and hotel/motels/team rooms are already filling up. Start making your plans to attend this boogie by checking the Skydive Arizona web site for details on things like lodging and registration, etc so you don't get left out in the cold . The usual thread in the Bonfire with more specifics on who's going, rides, room sharing and so on should start soon. Don't forget about the new Skyrider Inn Motel located at the entrance to Skydive Arizona. It's brand new and offers fully furnished suites and kitchen suites. Don't wait to reserve one of these rooms as they are extremely nice and sure to go fast.

A full line up of demo suits from Birdman will be available at the BirdMan tent with Load Organizing by myself to include a Wingsuit Seminar. Stay tuned for more specifics on specialty jump runs and other wingsuit related information.

This is a great chance to really work on your flying, perfect skills or gain new ones. Last year while there were several there with wingsuits we did not manage to get everyone together on very many jumps. It would be nice this year if we can be a little more organized and build a few nice flocks. So if you are going to be there with a wingsuit check in with Scott so we can get the flock together.

I will be around between the Dec. 28 and Jan. 1, wingsuit flying, freeflying and just having fun. I will look forward to finally meeting and flying with you Scott.

Wingsuiters have started to roll in already and the flocks look promising. It's a little chilly in the mornings so bring your warm gear. Other than that the sky is relatively clear with a few nice puffy clouds made for swooping. We are not sucking in Eloy:)

Is the weather similar to the holiday boogie in 03'? I have a bunch of friends going. The rest of us couldn't get enough time off and will just hang here and jump the AN-727.

No, it's not that cold by any means. It's just a bit chilly until the heat tab kicks in and then its not bad. By 10-11ish its what I'd call comfortable, some are even in shorts and T shirts. Of course it cools down in the evening but so far nothing to write home about.

Congrats to my boy Jay from YPG. Jay decided to take a hit of nylon crack after we knocked out an hour free flying in the tunnel. We made it just in time for a nice sunset dive that turned out awesome.

The last couple of days have been a lot of fun. Knocked out several flocks with different groups of birds. So far we have a smattering of Brits, Israeli, Canadian and Californian birds getting their flock on. The boogie starts tomorrow but the people have been steadily pouring in all day.Its looking like its gonna be a good one:)
PS: I keep running into Dutch skydivers. Apparently Jarno is well known in his country:P

Congrat to Jack and James. Both made their first flight today and did very well. Both decided to spend the day and tomorrow doing nothing but Wingsuiting. Weather here is fantastic. I think it was 80 degrees at one point as many changed into shorts. Made lots of jumps during the day and finished off with a sunset Birdman rodeo tracking dive with Sarah C. riding,Gasson filming, Omar, Pendragon(Richard) and a slew of other trackers building around. Not a bad day at all.:)

Hey all, I'm going to be arriving sometime Friday, and was wondering if anyone might have a suit I could borrow for a couple days? I want to flock real bad, but don't have a suit, or the cash to spend $10 a jump on a rental. Of course, I would be happy to pay a small fee, it's just at possibly 8 jumps a day for a couple days, it adds up quick. I'm 5' 9" and 170 lbs. I appreciate any help! Thanks!

I bet you do look like that! We can compare new phacros! Who knows after a few days you might have more jumps on yours now then I have on mine (damn NW weather and fog at Lodi).. Looking forward to seeing it in the air on Friday and Sat!

Maybe see you at the DZ late Thurs night when I get there........

Congrats goes out to Evan and Harry. Both knocked out their first flight despite the clouds/wind that came out of no where. Evan was definately stoked to say the least when he landed. The weather was a bit weird today but we still put up lots of loads.

If someone needs a loaner suit for a day or two, I can gladly hook a brother up free of charge:)

Had another excellent day here. More wingsuiters showed up last night and this morning. It started off looking bad but it warmed up a bit and the sun came out long enough for us to knock out multiple 6,8 and 10 way flocks out of the Skyvan and Otter. Half of the 4 way team Divewerkz has signed on to take the FFC along with the PD, UPT and Mirage reps in the morning after watching us get our flock on all day. I should have some in air pics from sdctlc(scott) later on this evening that I'll post later on. It was a bit cold but we are definitely having a great time here.:)

Weather here today was absolutely fantastic all day. All 5 planes were running all day back to back with the King air and the DC-3 also taking a few loads up as well as the ballon before the sun set. To say today was busy would be an understatement.

Congrats to Craig, Kate and Steve. All made their first flight today and had a blast. Craig and his son(Eric, who jumped for the first time at Summerfest) came all the way from El Paso ,Texas just to jump a wingsuit. After his first flight, Craig and son were flying together on several of the flocking dives we did today. In all we made several 4, 6, 8 and 10 way flocks for most of the day. Scott (sdctlc) took a ton of very nice pictures which I am sure we'll see once he gets home.

The boogie was a fantastic time. Lots of fun. I will get some pictures up later today.

Scott was doing a number of first flights and going with us on flights. He also gave a really good seminar in the hanger on Fri evening.

Thanks to all the birdies I met and flocked with. We had people from ElPaso, Nebraska, Toronto, Seattle (me), some localsand a few places I cant think of right now. Thanks for the jumps and letting me fly with y'ALL!!

Most loads were between 13 and 14K but I got a couple where I synced in witha formation load to fill the plane and got some 16K+ flights, yes O2 was flowing in the plane.. those were fun..

Only bummer bird wise was that on the first load of the day on Sat. After a fun 3 way, Sean (monkey) hurt his ankle/leg on landing and was/is out of jumping for awhile. I am not sure if it was broken I heard it was sprained then heard it was worse (after he went to go have it looked at) but I will let him fill in the details on that

Some pictures o follow later today! Thanks again to all the people down in Eloy flocking and a big thanks to Scott for what he was doing there!
