helxen 0 #1 October 26, 2006 Did anyone ever bothered making a simple flight-plan route with gps waypoints and then following it precisely? I mean, some setup with pda/gps/headphones similiar to that one but with a map with several waypoints and an audio like "turn left" or whatever. edit to make link clicky. mccordia 74 #2 October 26, 2006 We've been planning to do that at the dropzone in Rotterdam (as you can fly over parts of town there, as you can see here and here) because there is a contest atm in Holland (you have to make a video on how you use your GPS system) Im hoping we get to try it in two weeks or so. Would be funny to have the winds (and flightplan) change after takeoff, and just hear 'make u-turn if possible' in your ear the entire freefall Dont know if anyone has already tried it (my guess is yes...if people have been playing linked up gameboys in freefall..this one has definately already been done...probably by CRW folks or so) *edit* The GPS Im talking about would be a car gps, and flying over a populated area/roadsJC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? It's been done for years by Military jumpers doing HAHO jumps while under canopy.I'm actually testing out several new military systems that attach to the helmet and have a HUD/ring sight type of display in front of one eye. Alti-2 has been working on a similar system, the Titan, that has yet to be released to the public."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

Id love to get to work on doing some simple 3d games for that. Flying through virtual rings, setting up a circuit in the sky.. How cool would that be!JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? Gadget 0 #6 October 26, 2006 Actually with the titan you wouldn't. Only the release of the titan was supposed to be last year.If people from Poland are called Poles, why aren't people from Holland called Holes??? My logbook

They have actually started doing something like that already for the Red Bull air race games. I posted pictures from the article in Pop science awhile back where it discussed the use of exactly what you mentioned. Now if they could only hurry up and minaturize it ;-) EDIT to add photo"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
