Big Boys and Wings

Whats the thinking on us larger guys flying wingsuits.....
bigger suits = slower fall rate and more performance?
Or is it that more weight = more speed = more lift.....

And whats the biggest size of suit Birdman will make ..?
My friend (attached) says size and wingsuits its no problem....so just keeps eatin

For the same airframe, more speed = more lift and more drag. L:D remains constant. Sink and forward speed increase proportionally.

That said, we do not all have the same airframe, and to make it more complicated, anyone of us can drastically alter our own airframe midflight (this is what makes wingsuits such a unique mode of human flight).

Common sense dictates that if you are heavy, you will want a bigger suit.

I think your 'friend' should definately loose some pounds.
Just getting rid of his ego should already save him half the weight..;)

And I think people should look at attached pictures before they go into 'serious' mode, and start with the Outragerious L/D seminars again:P

p.s. hey...is that my head on there D?

So from the past years answers

- dont get an S3, its really dangerous if you dont jump it enough
- get a V1

the new reply to any question is now

- get a Mach1:P

Would love to see one upclose and give it a try...know some EU flyers that are getting on soon...

Love new toys!

There are quite a few big guys here at Z-hills that fly suits. Ryan, the Australian rigger, is 285 butt naked and has no problem staying up with us vertically or horizontally in his Phantom.

Any of these big guys fly Prodigy's? I ordered one since I've got low #'s and it was recommended for beginners. I'm beginning to worry that the small wing might not be big enough for my fat ass. (6'0, 300 lbs)

Does the belly bulge on the more abdominally challanged fliers affect the aerodynamics to a greater degree?
As for Mach 1's...isnt it just a big camera suit ? doesnt excess wing material present more drag to drastically slow forward speed..?

My friend (attached) reckons the effect of drag is overated...(both in the air and on the ground)

These pictures of you from past weekend show why;)
Little trouble-maker...

Love the subtext in your post though...joking about extreme heavy weight and bad flying:P

I have heard rumors that another suit with big fucking wings is about to be revealed in the near future.

I think I am seeing a trend here

If you are refering to Loic's "big suit" project you are correct. He has been working on it for sometime and I hear it is nearly ready. I'd expect to see it around the first part of 07. The updates he has made to the S-fly should also be released around then as well I'd imagine.

Pressurized has been working on a suit for some time that was supposed to be released this year but I think we will see it sometime in 07.
