TomAiello 26 #1 March 21, 2007 I heard a rumor that Phoenix Fly is coming out with a new suit designed for flocking. Does anyone know anything more about this? Is it based on the Phacro (a popular suit for many flockers), or is it all new? Any truth to the rumor that we'll see a prototype at Z-Flock? Any chance that someone like Chuck, with lots of experience on all suits, could take it for a spin and give us some thoughts?-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
tr027 0 #2 March 21, 2007 Yes, we'll all know considerably more about that suit after Z-Flock 3. I'm just amazed it's possible to make a suit that flocks better than a Phantom."The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. unclecharlie95 3 #4 March 21, 2007 Come to Z-Flock to see the suit in the flesh and maybe take it for a test flight! (there will be working prototype in L and XL available by then) The suit is aimed at pilots who want a high performance suit for flocking, back flying and all round fun flying. The suit has been designed to have good slow speed characteristics, by that we mean a low fall rate even with low horizontal speed. But still to have lots of range at the high end as well for when you want to fly fast and flat. Air locked back vents ensure excellent back flying performance and an eye catching color panel design will mean even Purple Mike will be left out of frame ;) The suit is in the final stages of testing and should go into pre-production (scaling and template fabrication) shortly after Z3. I could post a small photo... (bring on the 'pop' jokes! )BASEstore.it

TomAiello 26 #7 March 21, 2007 Maybe it's cultural, kind of like popping up, but doesn't that look like Charlie Brown's favorite shirt?-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

havensiangst 0 #16 March 22, 2007 What`s the different between a flockingsuit and a "ordinary" wingsuit? never heard about it...is there a suit for backflying aswell??? i`m confused..
normiss 851 #17 March 22, 2007 funny...I thought it looks like the Phantom mostly...which is what I thought the Tony suits looked like...except for the "shorts" in the middle of the suit anyway...
Birdman_Mike 0 #18 March 22, 2007 Quoteby that we mean a low fall rate even with low horizontal speed. James, What differs between this suit and the vampire that allows for a lower stall speed to enable the slow horizontal / slow vertical flight mode? Does this difference compromise the fast forward / slow vertical flight mode? In the fast forward / slow vertical flight mode, do you expect better performance from the vampire or the new flocking suit? Can we have one delivered in time for the AN-72 boogie? Thanks, Purple Mike
unclecharlie95 3 #19 March 22, 2007 QuoteWhat differs between this suit and the vampire that allows for a lower stall speed to enable the slow horizontal / slow vertical flight mode? Balance of wing area around centre of mass, wing shape & profile and a few other things.. QuoteDoes this difference compromise the fast forward / slow vertical flight mode? In a word, yes, you can't have a suit that does everything. That said this new suit still flies well. QuoteIn the fast forward / slow vertical flight mode, do you expect better performance from the vampire or the new flocking suit? The Vampire is still the weapon of choice for speed & distance. QuoteCan we have one delivered in time for the AN-72 boogie? Yes* (As long as things go smoothly putting the suit into production).
