feagajk 0 #1 October 26, 2003 What kind of glue is used to attach the skirt and lens on Z1s? Joe
Hazarrd 1 #2 October 26, 2003 crappy glue, mine are coming off .-.
dima39 1 #4 October 26, 2003 For attach lens Parasport use 2 pieces (4 inches long) of double-side scotch (like 3M). Skirt is attached by something like clear (trasparent) silicon glue. Liners attached to helmet by some velcros, so you can change and wash them.
Hooknswoop 19 #5 October 26, 2003 I've used both metel-set and expoy before to fix liners in Z1's. I also replace the bungee with a stronger, thicker type. Derek
darkwing 5 #6 October 27, 2003 This seems to be a big problem on many Z1's I've seen, and the one I owned. I used Shoe Goo to fix it, as have others at my DZ. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
Shark 0 #7 October 27, 2003 Use one of the hot glue guns. You can probably find one at an arts & crafts store for under $5.
mr2mk1g 10 #8 October 27, 2003 yeah, what he said. I use a hot glue gun, it works wonders (and is easy to repeat when it fails again... and it will). Go look at the gear review section of this site and check out what people have said about the Z1. This complaint is a VERY common one and virtually all the advice there is to use a hot glue gun. Hazarrd 1 #10 October 27, 2003 for $300, why am i getting a helmet that has pieces that are GLUED on to it that fall off all the time. .-.
AndyMan 7 #11 October 27, 2003 I've glued my Z1 countless times. The best I've found is simply using "shoe goo" - the same stuff people put on their booties. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I've posted many times of my strong dislike for the Z1, and I often repeat that I do not recomend them to anyone. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. jlmiracle 7 #14 October 27, 2003 I've had my Z1 for about 5 years now. I used hot glue gun when the lining starts coming apart. I dont' think the lining can fall off in freefall. pilotdave 0 #15 October 27, 2003 No glue related problems with mine yet, but I agree that their quality control is nearly nonexistant. You'd almost think it was made in America! I still love it though. Keeps my head warm and looks a heck of a lot better than my protec and over-the-glasses goggles! Dave

I find this interesting - I've been jumping a Z-1 for over two hundred jumps now and have had no problem at all with the collar coming unglued. What I enjoy the most about the Z-1 is the ease of opening and closing the faceplate. I can flip it open with one hand in a split second as part of my post-deployment "housekeeping" and clear my ears, then flip it closed again.
